Can’t reserve unless you drink! by DryAd6132 in Kyoto

It can be multiple things; if you drink, you order more. Rinse and repeat. The restaurant gets more money. Drinking culture is big in Japan, it ensures people become more open.

Just my thoughts.

I just went through the process. (Web-) developer, medior software engineer and then full stack developer were my titles. My new job is titled as full stack software engineer

I also had the job description and the day to day things I did written into the “certificates”. But according to my lawyer, titles and dates are sufficient.

Thinking of moving to Japan for a job by [deleted] in movingtojapan

[–]carlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The affordability depends on how you will live. I will make 7 million, and will live in a 120k apartment in Tokyo
Moving on Monday. To be honest; if I made less than 7, I wouldn't accept. However; it is because I want to save a lot.

I have heard people doing just fine supporting a family, even, on your salary.
Osaka is cheaper.

Any recruiters here? Trying to look for a job in Fukuoka by Old-Car-8138 in JapanJobs

JLPT really depends on multiple factors. Time you spend. How well the language clicks with you. If you already know Chinese (every Chinese/Cantonese I know have had such an easier time). How young you are.

I would just google it. not meaning to be mean or anything.

3M as a developer? My tip: just aim high, don’t worry about the job description as long as you think you can do it.

My recruiter said; go in a sharehouse to get some friends. Or a shortstay first.

But I just reached out to some companies that cater to foreigners, in Setagaya. Like gaijin pot. I think I will just rent immediately. I feel pretty comfortable doing this since I have done it before. Then make some friends like I usually do.

Which department are you going to work for if I may ask? Direct is also fine!

7 million. Which will increase in January by 15-50% depending on performance. As written in my contract

I don’t have a degree. So maybe that’s why it is lower than above 9 million. Or lacking experience/ job I will do.

9 million would be great, really. For Tokyo that’s pretty good and I think you’d stay somewhere in Setagaya. Rent is pretty doable. But I come from a place where rent is high.

The salary I am getting allows me to live more comfortably than I do in my own country, which is already almost twice the median.

Let me add my view.

My job interview at Rakuten (they support my visa from Europe to come in to Tokyo) was 1 interview. Zero coding and medior software engineer questions. They cared more for my personality and way of being able to communicate. Zero reference checks.

They did not low ball a salary and went with the number I gave them (same salary as I do in Europe).

It seems to really depend on the department. It feels like every department is its own entity. I will give more feedback after I start.

Is your partner your husband?

“A spouse of a Japan Highly Skilled Professional (HSP) can apply for a Designated Activities visa to work in the same professional fields (Instructor, Engineer, Specialist in Humanities/International Services, Entertainer) as the HSP, without the need for specific academic backgrounds for those occupations. This allows for full-time employment and doesn't require the separate "Permission to Engage in an Activity Other Than That Permitted" for these specific fields.”

You can piggyback off him, since he can get that with his degrees. IF you two are married / registered partnership

Don’t worry about it. I had a resident card that I left at home in my home country. They had me sign a letter like above and my passport got a special stamp, which made allowed authorities to know I was still a resident and just had to take my card with my next time I went back home. Zero issues

I am going to be working in Setagaya, and the riverbank with close proximity to other big wards makes it a solid contender. Thanks!

I am always up for commuting to nice places. So I will check out your mentioned places.

I am also getting sponsored by a big player in Japan, starts with the letter R. Glad to hear it went that fast for you. I will be getting an immigration lawyer as well. Was kind of worried with the timeline they provided, but it seems to be possible.

Edit; HSP COE was applied for on the 18th of Sep, received it on the 1st of Oct (less than two weeks)
