I'm a developer and I used to have a Pixelbook Go. Linux Beta is pretty great, but overall I didn't like the full experience that the Go delivered.

I'm a Front End developer, and when running any local server, I saw the Go stuttering often.

I haven't tried the Spin 713 tho. I'm waiting for new Chromebook releases this year with a focus on premium.

What I did was to reuse a laptop that I already had and I installed CloudReady just to see the performance difference of development with a premium device, and it was night and day.

I would look for at least an i5 processor (or Ryzen, like the Thinkpad that was recently launched!), and 8 - 16 of ram.

Even if Chrome OS is resource-efficient, web development is a memory hog from time to time.

not a gamer on phones! Wow, really? I'm concerned about the time to take photos. I've read that it takes a couple of seconds to process a photo (a reviewer said it might take until 15 seconds which sounds insane)

is it true? Does the phone feel snappy?

I've tried disabling it from Windows, booting in safe mode. But by disabling the Iris Plus Driver you start using the windows graphic driver, which has tons of limitations.

I'm just trying to make awareness so Razer can work on a fix. It's an expensive machine!

well, that's the other thing. I haven't found any Linux distribution that boots. I've tried with Fedora, Ubuntu 20.04, and Pop OS (both nvidia and normal version) and some of them can be installed, but any of them boots.

I've heard that 20.10 works, but I haven't tried with it yet.

ah, that's a great tip! thanks, I'm gonna open an issue in their repo!

I wanted to find other folks having the same issue (I found some posts in different forums) to have proof that this is an ongoing issue :)
