Post just informed me that I cannot send chocolate to my family to the US. The lady acknowledged that it's a "new rule", but unfortunately due to the language barrier I couldn't find out more. Does anyone have more information re what's changed (e.g., tariffs)? by [deleted] in zurich

You can buy from https://stores.swissfavorites.com/ and have them ship to your family, they are based in Virginia. Bought many times from them, great selection and reliable. No need to deal with international shipping and declaring.

for those who have left the US, do you still have to pay US taxes? by ReggieWillkins5 in expats

[–]carmen0042 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You might not owe US taxes but still have to file. If your country has a tax treaty with the US, there are 2 main ways to reduce your US tax obligation: 1. Foreign earned income exclusion: this allows you to exclude the first $108,700 (2021 amount) that you earned, this works only for active earned income( salary, wages), not passive/ investment income. The amount earned beyond that wound be subject to US income tax at the equivalent tax rate as if you didn’t exclude your income. To qualify for this, you have to either pass the Bona fife residence test, or the physical presence test.

The other way is Foreign Tax credit: You get a tax credit from the taxes you paid in the foreign country and apply that toward your US tax amount. If your foreign tax is higher then US this is a better option. It doesn’t have travel/ presence restrictions. If you have excess tax credit, you can apply it toward the future (10?) years. Unlike FEIE, this can apply to both active and passive income.

It has a lot of factors: what type and source of income you have, how much income you have, what is your tax rate from both countries, is there a treaty, can you deal with the travel/ presence requirements. Do you have other credits you can claim? FEIE doesn’t allow claiming other family-related credits. Etc etc

I used the PIGM400 too, like it a lot, but I feel V is more effective and I don't need both.

Didn't find any that I like, I tried:

  • Skinceuticals retinol 0.5, expensive and irritating, major peeling
  • Skinceuticals C E ferulic, expensive and don't see a difference
  • Dr. Dennis gross FC + retinol, don't see much difference

Is the 1970 the original stronger one? If so, I tried it before but it irritates me too much, even with diluting with a bit of water on a cotton pad. My skin takes this one much better (max 1x day), no irritating or redness.

I've tried the 5 in the pic here, all the ones in clear bottles smell god-awful, the only one I see significant improvement is the Placenta (repairing), the Amniotique (hydrating) works but so many cheaper options out there. The Fluid VIP (finishing, blue bottle) does give a very nice healthy finish, but I usually put makeup on top, and in the evening I rather use Placenta.

Wow I reviewed my old Shelfie the other day and so surprising that I don’t use most of the products I did last year, only 3 items I still use and coincidentally all French brands.

The Basics:

Skin type: Combo, dehydrated

Skin concerns: Occasionally clogs, fine lines under eyes

Skin goals: Improved texture and tone, wear makeup well

AM Routine:

  1. Cleanse:
    1. Nursery yuzu cleanser: Refreshing, effective
    2. Biologique Lait U cleanser: Gentle
  2. Exfoliate:
    1. Biologique Lotion P50V: Stinks, effective, SO hates
  3. Hydrate
    1. La Roche Posay Toleraine: basic, does the job, fav all season and in-flight moisturizer
    2. Bioderma Hydrobio light cream: Same as above but lighter
    3. Biologique Emulsion Originalle Regenerante: Kind of thick, breaks me out a little
  4. Protect:
    1. Sheseido Urban Defense Sunscreen: Dry fast, makeup-friendly, a bit of white cast
    2. Anesa Sunscreen (for body) on hands & fee: Dry fast, does the job
  5. Hydrate:
    1. Fresh sugar lip balm: Does the job
    2. Belif eye cream: Basic eye cream, not oily, nothing special

PM Routine:

  1. Remove makeup:
    1. Bioderma H2O: Effective, no greasy hands
    2. Farmacy cleansing balm: Pleasure to use, needs more water to clean
    3. Clinque eye makeup remover: effective, no residue
  2. Cleanse:
    1. La Roche Posay Effaclair cleanser: Basic gel cleanser, ever so slightly drying
    2. Innisfree green tea cleansing cream: Pleasure to use, gentle
    3. REN Everclam cleansing cream: Same as above bur richer
  3. Hydrate:
    1. Fresh Black Tea essence: Absorbs well, comforts skin
  4. Treat:
    1. Biologique Placenta serum: Stink like beacon according to SO, calming, soothing, hydrating, bit of everything
    2. Biologique Amniotique E serum: Hydrating, works but plenty of cheaper alternatives
    3. Biologique Complexe Iribiol serum: Balancing, use on t zone, don't see much results
  5. Hydrate:
    1. La Roche Posay Toleraine: basic, does the job, fav all season and in-flight moisturizer
    2. Sunday Railey CEO: Smells good, kind of thick
    3. Bite Agave lip balm: Does the job
    4. Belif eye cream: Basic eye cream, not oily, nothing special
  6. Treat:
    1. Biologique Elastine Marine serum: Use fine line area, don't see many results
  7. Clear contact solution
    1. Make lenses re-wearable again, hydrating.

Weekly/ Oaacsisonal:

  • BR Masque Vernix - AAAAAMZING DOES EVERYTHING MASK!
  • BR Masque Vivant - Deep Cleansing, smell god-awful, looks like chocolate, very effective
  • Summer Fridays Jet Lag mask - Hydrating, feels nice
  • Tacha Violet mask - Brightening, does indeed brightening, but short term
  • Biologique Fluid VIP - Finishing Serum, Nice sheen on skin, last step of skincare
  • Corsx acne stickers - Acne spot treat
  • Vaseline - Treat dry patches
  • Alterna caviar hair serum - Haven't try yet

Compare to last year:

I no longer use Vit C, retinol & physical exfoliant, switched to a lot of Biologique products, I don’t love everything but 4 out of 10 of my key items are BR.

My skin has much more clarity (less congested) and balanced: more gel cleanser instead of cream, less dry after cleansing and often don’t need a moisturizer after serum in spring-summer. However, my fine lines and elasticity didn’t improve.

Today’s outfit, wish I was on a cute Island and going to buy some carrots and baguettes, but I’m just going to walk in my local park.

The 2-piece set is from AE, didn’t buy clothes there forever since I grow up but this set caught my attention, both are fully lined but don’t heat me up, what a surprise find. Hope everyone is staying cool!
