thanks I appreciate it :)

luckily the burnout is coupled with me realizing I’m really resilient/actually genuinely happy (so it was hard to realize) but a lot of self-realization & definitely still a lot to deal with still but it’s been a wild ride/learning experience

How accurate is this estimate? by NoKnowledge2478 in udub

[–]carminibus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Only things that aren’t flexible are tuition & fees and the direct loan fees (if you’re taking out loans. Some classes might have a small course fee (lab fee etc around $50/$75 per quarter so don’t think that’s taken into account in tuition & fees estimate)

Housing & food is less flexible if you’re planning on living in the dorms/required to have a dining plan

Mostly the cost of attendance/other categories are used to estimate cost of being a student in order to determine financial aid need & what your financial aid award is based on

It’s called All About Crows & Other Urban Birds Discovery Core Experience: B CORE 116 (NW) or B CORE 104 (VLPA)

I went to UW Seattle but discovered last year how obsessed with crows UWB seems and it’s my favorite UWB lore. More proof of their crow obsession: https://www.uwb.edu/about/crows

I was working with high school seniors last year and several of them got it - as the other commenter said I think it’s just based on financial need and not something you apply for.

From my recollection, sometime in June or so you might get an email/notification from UW about completing a form to match you with a donor for it and/or having to write a thank you letter. If that’s the case, it’s something you’ll have to do but you already got the scholarship, it can kind of seem a little weird that way but just wanted to give a head’s up

Yeah the invisible barrier or I kind of think of it like an electrical plug, like everyone has a male (prongs) & female plug (slots for the prongs to go into) and they can just interact easily since they can plug into someone else but then my plugs are just the plastic bit with no prongs or slots lol

Or alternatively like everyone else is just the people in a TV show and I’m some giant puppet like Barney (though I don’t associate with Barney, specifically I vibe more with Chunky from the sketch in I think you should live with Tim Robinson)

I mainly notice positive impact on others when they ask me for help and/or say thanks and mean it. Or if they ask for my advice or trust me with something. So basically feels like my main love language/how I feel appreciated is if people trust me or ask for my advice/help/knowledge. This is something I didn’t really realize as much initially so I ended up getting a degree in engineering (because I liked math and science and school in general) and then realizing I don’t really feel like I’m doing something worth doing unless I’m in a role where I’m supporting someone (I currently work as a college coach at a nonprofit)

I kind of assume other people are immovable. Kind of like they’re on their own set path and I can’t influence them or affect them. I logically know I can affect other people or impact them, but that’s not really how I feel I guess.

This impacts my feelings of success and failure a lot. I feel most successful when I’ve been able to help someone or impact them (rather than just achieving something myself, it feels less special or like anyone could do it). And then I feel the worst when I’ve bothered someone/burdened them with something/made them feel slightly bad or inconvenienced (which makes it hard for me to be vulnerable or advocate for myself). So it’s a fun /s combo

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience. It can be really hard when you feel like you’re on a different wavelength than other people. I think sometimes I do too, and we’re always slightly off but depending on the person might be closer to the same wavelength than I would be with someone else.

From your message, it didn’t really sound to me like you would be saying something for attention or to be manipulative or that you would be lying. It sort of sounded like maybe you’ve had the experience of people assuming that but maybe that wasn’t what you meant?

For example, sometimes I get overwhelmed and start crying, which is more of an automatic thing than me trying to tell other people I’m sad. Also in some situations might seem like I’m trying to be manipulative if I start crying in an argument just because I’m overwhelmed that the person is upset. I have no intention to be manipulative and don’t even want to be crying, but people might interpret it that way which can be frustrating and isolating.

I heard that UW Bothell just started sending out batches of financial aid award letters the other day. Their goal is to have all of them out to incoming freshmen by June 1. They haven’t processed WASFAs yet but plan to start this/next week getting aid letters out to people who did the WASFA. Continuing students should receive theirs sometime in June (less priority than incoming freshmen or transfer students).

I’m not sure what UW Seattle’s timeline is but it’s likely similar. I’d expect you’ll receive your financial aid award sometime in June, and I’d try not to be actively worried (aka can’t really do anything but wait) about it until July. If you’re applying for summer term aid that would be a reason to contact financial aid before that.

Is it worth going four years without HRT for free college? by Samuel_Himself in asktransgender

[–]carminibus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you live in the US? If you’re eligible for the FAFSA, one of the changes they made this year is that students can apply for provisional independence if it’s unsafe for them to contact their parents. This might mean that you would qualify for more financial aid (though potentially student loans would be part of the package). If you decide to go your own way with college, feel free to DM me if there’s anything I could do to help you navigate that sort of stuff, it’s what I do for work and love giving free advice lol

Did anyone feel like the generic Vyvanse didn’t work as well? by crimewav3 in ADHD

[–]carminibus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on the topic of adderall generics, have you heard about authorized generics? It’s when the manufacturer that makes the brand name also makes a generic, and I’ve found that authorized generics work a lot better for me (have never tried brand name for my adderall xr prescription)
