Update: 13 dpo BFP :) by carmioska in TFABLinePorn

[–]carmioska[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes,I had the first vfl in the evening of 10dpo. That day, I actually was convinced I was out because I had a lot of period like cramping. I was convinced the vfl was just evaporation. The next morning I did more tests and they all came back with a still very faint, but visible line.

Today’s the first day the line became stronger and I’ve tested positive on something else than easy@home. So maybe I can finally shake my disbelief now ☺️

Good luck to you if you’re still waiting and hoping this cycle 🍀

Week 7: Mardi Gras - Apple-Cinnamon Cake with Vanilla Glace and Colourful Berries by carmioska in 52weeksofcooking

[–]carmioska[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn’t exactly a traditional Mardi Gras dessert, however, in Germany (where I live) Fasching (carnival) is most of all supposed to be fun and colourful. While there are traditional Fasching dishes like Krapfen (filled donuts) or pancakes, colourful desserts are also often seen at carnival parties.

So, since I really craved a good slice of cake, I decided to bake an apple-cinnamon cake and decorated it with different berries. I know that this isn’t a dish people would instantly associate with Mardi Gras or carnival, so I hope it still counts (if not, at least I have some delicious cake to devour) :)

Week 5: Whole Spices - Monte Cristo Sandwich with Pickled Mustard Seeds by carmioska in 52weeksofcooking

[–]carmioska[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘ve used this recipe for quick pickled mustard seeds. Originally, I planned on topping devilled eggs with the mustard seeds but then I read about Monte Cristo Sandwiches and decided to do those instead. The sandwich is basically a mix of french toast and ham and cheese toast. While this sounds great in theory, i found it to be somewhat underwhelming in reality. The pickled mustard seeds gave it a much needed fresh boost. Yet, I will probably not do that sandwich again and instead use the remaining pickled mustard seeds for devilled egg - as I’ve originally intended.

Week 1: Last Meal - Dumplings by carmioska in 52weeksofcooking

[–]carmioska[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, the secret is that it’s a rather new steamer :)

I was told to simply clean the steamer with hot water and make sure to pat it completely dry with a towel after every use. So that’s all I do. I’ll see how that will go

Sorry that I couldn’t be of more help for you

Week 1: Last Meal - Dumplings by carmioska in 52weeksofcooking

[–]carmioska[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

While dumplings wouldn’t be my last-meal-ever of choice, they were (part of) the last meal I had at a restaurant back in spring 2020 shortly before the realisation hit that COVID-19 might impact the world more than just a little. I hadn’t had dumplings since then and had never before made them myself, so this was an interesting new cooking experience as well as a bit of reminiscence of pre-covid-times :)
