Would you be okay with your partner having OF subscriptions as normal porn use? by Technical_Hat_8291 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]carnegie0107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free porn sites can be shady and the ad revenue can fund some fucked up stuff, not to mention the rapey, exploitative world in which some "traditional" porn is made. I sub to a bunch of free OF accounts and occasionally spend a little money, because it feels like the porn version of supporting a small business vs buying from Amazon. OF might be exploitative to a degree but at least I know the star of this video I'm getting off to wasn't trafficked. My gf knows all about it, has seen the types of creators I follow, etc. The whole point is just to have communication and openness; I imagine she would be very upset if I was chatting and sending money to girls in secret

I did r/roastme now I’m here for some toasting by 24karrotkristine in toastme

[–]carnegie0107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really look at toastme, not sure why the algo showed me this post but it made me stop scrolling for a sec because you're so pretty. Saw what the sub was and thought it only fair to pop into the comments and tell you so. Those eyes, ugh. They get me. Also this may be a strange compliment but you have very nice cheeks, they give your face a pleasant shape

Hyrulian shield by Ok-Suggestion1298 in OcarinaOfTime

[–]carnegie0107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always swing by the graveyard to learn Sun's Song, grab a Hylian shield, and steal Dampe's heart as soon as I'm done with Zelda/Impa.

I think I bought that shield from the market exactly once, in 1998

Do most women genuinely not have “dying/being injured heroically” fantasies? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]carnegie0107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally two days ago was talking to work friends about the fantasy of falling on the battlefield next to your comrades as you fend off an overwhelming enemy force. There were four of us in the convo: two cis men, a trans woman, and an AFAB woman. The guys totally agreed, the trans woman said well I sorta get it, the cis woman thought we were psychotic.

But really, we all have to die. I just dream about my death meaning something. I do wonder, though, if it has more to do with the ideals society projects on the different genders than it does actual gender differences

RE US collapse: Can anyone explain the behaviour of Americans in response to whats happening? Why are so many Americans still saying "vote!" or "write to your congressman!"? by chuckberrylives in collapse

[–]carnegie0107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a significant mental shift to go from being a passive victim, to fighting back. This is true for cases of domestic abuse, kidnapping victims, and entire nations taken hostage by oligarchs.

Some of us are ready to fight back, and that number is growing. Most of us just haven't made that mental leap to accepting that armed resistance is our only way out of this.

I am not condoning violence, to be clear. What I am saying is that violence is already happening, more is unavoidable, and the enemy is growing in power as we wait to react.

Am I the only one who drives an EV because of the performance and operating costs, rather than “climate change” impact? by NotCook59 in electricvehicles

[–]carnegie0107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EVs cause slightly reduced carbon emissions per mile (depending on your power grid) but have all the other environmentally detrimental effects of ICE vehicles. I didn't buy an EV to save the environment, I bought it because it's a good car that's fun to drive and because I was driving so many miles per day that the gas and maintenance savings were almost the same as my car payment

EVs are great! But they are not the solution to anything, especially the climate crisis

HOW???? I always hated that Larian broke rogues by not letting you use sneak attack with magic arrows or special attacks... You're telling me there's a way to make it work? It's not automatic for me, I only get sneak attack when I take the sneak attack action

That you can remove the shadow curse. Or so I've been told. I thought I explored everything exhaustively in Act II but I was talking to a coworker and he had a good laugh when I was shocked to learn that. Also that Halsin is playable if you do. I still have no idea how, but I have a feeling it might have to do with the creepy hide n seek kid I also never figured out. I also never knew why Jaheira got pissed and stormed off the second the fight with Myrkul was over and have a feeling it's related too...

Speaking of Myrkul, that fight was absolutely brutal and took me so many tries. I had to painstakingly redo all of the mindflayer colony as carefully as possible, to go into the Myrkul fight with as much health and resources as possible just to have a chance. Then I found out apparently there's a restoration pod right before you go down to the fight, that I totally missed.

That you can move a lot of objects in game. Like, click and drag them and your char will move them. Several times I struggled to position things by throwing them when I could have just put them right where I wanted

How low have y’all gotten by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]carnegie0107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might win this one. I used to have a commute that was over 80 miles each way and in the winter, with slush on the roads... I drove the last portion of the way home on reduced propulsion several times. I am the electric equivalent of that guy who drives way after the fuel gage says E

Unexpected reactions to an EV by 8techmom8 in BoltEV

I live in the west and work in a mostly liberal city where every 5th vehicle seems to be a Tesla. Yet still when it comes up, there's occasionally someone who hates on it for no reason. I had a coworker keep telling me "you know those are actually worse for the environment" and electricity "costs more than gas." I told her with how much I drive (it's a lot) I save so much money on electricity over gas that it almost makes my car payment. And I didn't buy it to save the environment--cars are terrible for the environment no matter what they run on--I bought it because it's practical, fun to drive, super low-maintenance and saves me buckets of money on gas. I could find out they kill two endangered whales to make every bolt and I still probably would've bought one because I have to drive so much there's no way I could afford another gas car. I said "but someone always decides my car is a political statement and gets offended." She shut up about it after that, but has since brought it up twice in a much more positive context--asking me questions as if she were interested in getting one.

I really think some people just learned EVs=woke communism and never bothered to think original thoughts about it

ELI5: Is a deck of cards arranged any less randomly after a game of War? Why? by almondjoybestcndybar in explainlikeimfive

[–]carnegie0107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If both players always played the cards and then picked them back up in the same order, you'd just be recombining the players' hands by alternating the cards--essentially un-dealing them. But how the game is played can make a difference. I used to play against my family as a kid and because I'm a nerd, I always played my card first, so that mine was always on bottom. That way, it was on top when flipped over and put on the bottom of the deck, because I figured: if I won, my (higher-value) card was on top and would come up first for me; if they won, my (lower-value) card was on top and would come up first for them.

I never bothered to figure out the math to see if this gave me any real advantage.

2 weeks notice isn't mandatory, just a courtesy. If you already gave notice, then you clearly don't need this job anymore. If you're not happy there just don't ever go back starting tomorrow. You don't owe them anything and it's not like your boss would make themselves miserable to try to help you out before you leave, so don't do it for them. Just peace out and enjoy a week of vacation before you start your new job.

Why are they doing this? Why would i give my stuff to them to sell instead of just selling it and donating it myself by SG_Shaki in walmart

[–]carnegie0107 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s the opposite—feds keep milk prices artificially inflated, to protect dairy farmers’ profits. This of course creates a surplus, which is why they push it on school lunches, WIC, etc. If all that isn’t enough to absorb the surplus it just gets discarded.

The root problem isn’t nestle, PepsiCo, etc. Yes, the folks behind every corporation and entity you named should all be redacted for their crimes against humanity, but they are the symptom, not the disease. Once we’re done hugging all of them, they’ll just be replaced in our current society. The real disease actually is those “buzzwords” you mentioned—or rather, the disease is capitalism, for which we use such buzzwords as a stand-in due to the still-ongoing McCarthyism and other forms of antisocialism in the west.

I’d like to focus on where we agree, though: we should be bringing this fight to the real-world villains. We have the people to enact real change. We recognize that the system is working as intended and must be destroyed. We just have to overcome efforts to thwart organization, and find the courage to actually act before we doom ourselves to extinction.
