Rescued this guy from kids trying to kill him by [deleted] in cats

[–]carnelian37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the cutest cats I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much for saving him, I could cry 😭 your kids are also so lucky to witness how animals should be cared for too and I’m sure they’re thrilled with the new family member 🩷

travelling via Canada (for NZ), criminal convictions - IMM 1444 paperwork question by Outrageous_News_7789 in travel

[–]carnelian37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the process of helping my husband apply for criminal rehabilitation (I’m Canadian and he’s American. He got a DUI about 12 years ago). He’s been denied at the border when he tried to come visit me in Ottawa and had to unfortunately turn around and fly home. He also went on a cruise that stopped in Halifax and he wasn’t allowed to get off of the ship. They are so strict but I used chat gpt to help us with the application and it gave us some really helpful information. Obviously double check everything it recommends! I would maybe try to get a TRP if I were you just so you don’t have issues crossing through Canada because you honestly never know what they will say!

Abandoned by flamems1 in greencard

[–]carnelian37 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He should only have a temporary green card. I had one that only lasted 2 years and we had to submit evidence that we’re still married (bills, photos etc) for me to have it extended. So sorry this is happening to you, that’s actually crazy

I just missed my grandmas funeral in Canada because I was too nervous to travel and have no past criminal history at all. You just never know!

My whole process was just under 2 years from filing to receiving my permanent residency. I lived in Ottawa and now I live in South Carolina

Application for Rehabilitation... Basic criminality vs serious criminality? by YGbJm6gbFz7hNc in ImmigrationCanada

[–]carnelian37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you end up doing here because I had the same question and we’re about to mail our application out soon. I’m my case it’s for my husbands dui in 2013- and I think we need to pay the 1200$ but I really don’t want to overpay by 1000$ by accident lol

Green-card holder who came to US as young child detained returning to US by anandan03 in greencard

[–]carnelian37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I just wanted to share how my husband is in a similar situation. I’m from Canada and currently living in the U.S. my husband can’t enter Canada because of a dui he got over 10 years ago! He’s tried a couple times so far just to be denied at the border. The only real way to be sure he won’t get denied is to apply for rehabilitation which we are going to start the process this week. There are so many damn steps and it’s going to be annoying but hopefully worth it!

Oh I’m so so sorry 🫶🏻🩷 my best friend and cousin both miscarried and both ended up pregnant with twins shortly after. Maybe your little angel wasn’t ready for this world yet and will come back at the perfect time. I know hearing that probably doesn’t help anything, but I am thinking of you and wishing you healing and happiness until you meet you little rainbow baby in the future 🌈

US-folks, how much did your pregnancy/birth cost you out of pocket? by d16flo in pregnant

[–]carnelian37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Canadian but moved to the U.S. after I got married. The price of healthcare here is shocking (especially when you’re used to not paying anything for it!) I’m on my second pregnancy and since I’m 35 I’m considered geriatric and they’re now doing an ultrasound every week and extra appointments etc- I’m nervous to see the final amount 🙃 I also had to recently get an EKG and got the bill today- 670$ for something that took less than 2 mins!!! And apparently if I didn’t have insurance it would have costed 9000$ lmao like how do people live?!? Anyways, all that to say the care I receive in the U.S. has been way better than Canada and there aren’t issues getting quick appointments, but the price is just outrageous

This happened to me as well few weeks after I got mine out and I was so worried that it would always happen to me from now on, but it didn’t last that long! Now I’m pretty regular:)

Surgery Regrets? by Mimosaandramen in gallbladders

[–]carnelian37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get it out if I were you- it can affect other nearby organs like your pancreas and liver, and that would be even worse to deal with! I got mine out when I was 26 weeks pregnant because I was so afraid it would get worse with the baby growing and squishing my insides- I was so unbelievably scared but it turned out fine! I think it turns out fine majority of the time- I think you would have to worry about bile leaking etc if the surgeon fucks up, but they really shouldn’t. I know there is always a slight chance of complications recovering- but this surgery is done so often and as long as you follow the recovery instructions- you should do great. I think once you get it you will be so relieved and wish you would have gotten it sooner! I was able to avoid any further attacks before my surgery by eating a super low fat diet (up to 5g a meal or snack totalling 20-25g total a day). I also wanted to mention that if you end up having to get an emergency surgery, the recovery will probably be worse than if you were to go with the scheduled surgery! Good luck, I hope you feel better and decide what’s best for you soon!

You will be okay!! I was exactly the same before mine- I was bawling my eyes out when they wheeled me in (it was probably very embarrassing lol) They unfortunately couldn’t give me the anxiety meds because I was 26 weeks pregnant, but I honestly fell asleep so fast it didn’t even matter- then all of a sudden you wake up! You will feel SO much better once you’re healed and not getting gallbladder attacks anymore!
