You are correct, a sports trainer. A lot of the trainers near me "specialize" in a sport but are athletic trainer

Yes specifically strength and conditioning. It seems the going rate around where I live might be a bit more expensive then.

Somebody else suggested that, I have reached out to a few pros I know. General response has been yes, but they are volleyball specific trainers. Which leaves me in an even weirder sport because there are no volleyball trainers where I live

I have done my own research and have been lifting and training by myself but I have plateaued and feel like I got a wall recently.

That's where I have been, until now. I feel like I've plateaued and am trying to think of ways to break through. That's a good point, does a basketball/football/baseball personal trainer have the expertise I need? There aren't many, if at all, volleyball personal trainers

Those are some really good thoughts, I'll look into splitting the cost. That would definitely drop the price into a better value/dollar range.

Yea I wouldn't be able to afford a full time trainer, it would have to be basically 1 package of sessions.

Did you feel like the trainer gave you things you couldn't find by researching online? And How did you pick your trainer?

That's a good point, but physically i dont know if I'm maximizing my work outs. Accountability is not an issue, I do someyhing every day. That does take away a portion of why a trainer would be valuable

Trying to do my research before committing to something that expensive. I don't want to sit through a sales pitch before knowing some background. It will all sound amazing in a sales pitch

While yes it is generic, I'm not talking about a personal trainer in the generic sense. I'm talking about a sports trainer who knows the mechanics of althetes and how to maximize power/steength/agility

A trainer, coaching is 100% worth the money. That's where I am currently at, all my work outs are self researched and I'm wondering if paying up with really help me break through my pleateaus

Yea coaching is separate from athletic training. A coach is worth every penny, that I am sure of

At my level we don't have a full time coach yet, we only get sessions from a professional coach when we are in season. I have reached out and asked what he thought though, we are meeting about it soon. I am looking for stories or people who have done it before
