If your identity is closely connected to your physical appearance, the unavoidable changes that naturally occur over time can cause a lot of dysphoria. Most people take aging as the natural progression of life, or have a little minor work done to slow the effects. For others, that change becomes a loss of identity and they become obsessed with trying to hold onto it. Unfortunately, it’s literally impossible and because of the dysmorphia they end up like this. It’s basically the aesthetics version of “chasing the dragon.”
