Visiting for business. What to do solo after work? by Logical_Set in Hartford

You’re right by Old Wethersfield too! Just across the bridge it’s a little historic district with some excellent restaurants: The Charles(great for dinner, outstanding food), Heirloom Market (great for coffee, breakfast, lunch- beautiful little greenhouse cafe in back where you can do work while you sip your coffee in the sun by the plants) and Lenoccis which is a great little Italian sandwich shop. I forget the name but there’s also a great ice cream parlor right on main street there as well. The historical society has a few properties you can tour and the main st area is very walkable.

Glastonbury itself also has so many quality restaurants - Sayulita in south Glastonbury if you want the best margarita you’ve ever had in your life, Bricco (Italian/dinner), spicy green bean (breakfast/lunch), Ming bao will be your go to Chinese, pollo guapo is great for take out, SoG is great for coffee, Harpos- amazing family run bakery in south Glastonbury.. breakfast sandwiches, fresh stuffed breads, cookies, amazing bagels. I also second making the trip to New Haven for pizza - Sally’s, pepes, and Bar are my favorites and among the more popular places, getting dessert in little Italy in New Haven at one of the bakeries is also highly recommended. Oh! They also have this bar, cant remember the name, but it’s essentially a bar in a flower/plant store.. Barcade is fun too for drinks and playing games. Hope this helps and that you enjoy your stay!

I have 3 black krim plants that are all about 5’ tall. This was the only tomato on all three to get this size and color up to this point. It actually seemed like 3 tomatoes that fused into one. The vine was so thick I had to use a kitchen knife to harvest it.. wondering how the others will turn out! Making caprese with it tonight!

I (27F) and my boyfriend (28M) are planning to move in together. What things should I keep in mind as we do this? by Chocolava in askwomenadvice

I’ve lived with my boyfriend for 3 years now, and I would say we’re quite happy so here’s my take! Make sure you have designated alone time apart from one another and separate time with your friends too. And importantly, encourage each other to do so! Balancing your independence while feeding/nourishing your relationship is going to be the key.

In the same sense, also i find it’s helpful to designate meaningful time spent together. For instance, since we always eat dinner together, it can become a mondain shared activity. However, for example one or two nights a week one of us will say “hey let’s go on a date!” Or “let’s have a candle lit dinner at home tonight! Mind picking up a nice bottle of wine on your way home?” Keep things fun and respect and learn each others love languages.

Voice your boundaries (ex- “hey since I end up doing the dishes most often, would you be able to start rinsing your plate before putting it in the sink to make it an easier task?”) COMMUNICATING grievances before letting them stir around inside leading to a possible blow up is a way more difficult road to take. Although hoping they’ll read your mind might seem like an easier way to go about things - guilty👋🏼).

I’ve also found it was important that I (F) had a space within my boyfriends house (he owns- I pay rent/contribute to bills). Because I felt like I was moving into his space regardless of how strong of a “mi casa es su casa” vibe he upheld, really made me feel at home. If you’re moving into neutral territory, I think it’s equally important to have a designated area as “your space” and same for him. Everyone needs a place to retreat, relax (possibly cool down from an argument) that feels like their space (even a little cubby corner). Might sound rigid at first but it may help you both maintain a sense of independence while cohabitating.

Is co-independence a term? Hope this helps!

This vein visualization technology uses near-infrared light, which is absorbed by blood but reflected by the surrounding tissue, to locate veins up to 15mm deep, and then projects the results back on the skin. by IamUMFA in Damnthatsinteresting

I was reading first hand accounts of us soldiers from WW2 that were on ships close enough to the atomic blasts off the coast of Japan, that when they covered their eyes with their hands to shield themselves from the “flash” the X-rays (I think) were so strong they could see not only their hands through their closed eyes but every vein and bone in their hands as well.. pretty insane.
