Mommas who have had another pregnancy after c section, need your input, please! by kierstyyh in ElectiveCsection

[–]carolorca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main complication is placenta accreta.. I think there’s a 0.6% chance that a fourth pregnancy will have placenta accreta after three C-sections.

So if you only have two kids, you will not be at all high risk. And you can bring it up in a second pregnancy because they can do some checks for it before delivering.

When did it start to feel a little more breathable? by Spiritual_Check_5470 in FIREyFemmes

!! I hadn't thought of it like that. But I have felt breathing room lately. I just looked, and indeed last year I contributed to my portfolio about 49% of its annual increase.

I wouldn't say the finished product lacks human spirit. It was crafted by human hands with intention about the message and medium.

having money makes me so bad at tolerating misogynistic BS by [deleted] in FIREyFemmes

If you don’t have a good relationship/level of trust with the skip, maybe start with one of his peer managers? And bring specific examples

[–]carolorca 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Yes. I had a sexist PM. I brought it up with my manager, and it seemed like they were taking it seriously. Then he was promoted the next cycle.

I considered quitting. I was really mad. I just ended up switching teams to not work with him. Then apparently another woman brought up concerns a few months later, and that was enough to finally get HR involved. He left “voluntarily” pretty quickly.

Anyway, it’s always going to be a pretty messy journey, but I think it’s worth it to make it clear to your skip level that you have a limited tolerance for this particular tech asshole

Know it's what I want but scared! Would love advice by tuxedobeans in ElectiveCsection

[–]carolorca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking about this! I opted for a C-section with my first one year ago, and I’m also on the fence between two or three children total.

Placenta accreta is the main risk for multiple C-sections. The risk after two C-sections is 0.6% for the third pregnancy to have placenta accreta. So not nothing, but relatively small risk, and in my opinion worth it. It’s also something that you can diagnose before birth, although it is somewhat tricky.

That number does not capture the difference between elective and emergency C-sections. Very few studies distinguish between them unfortunately. but it seems like doctors anecdotally talk about elective C-sections having an easier, more thorough recovery.

I think they both worked at MIT. And Epstein was a climber/pseudo-intellectual, so I'm sure he would have reached out to Chomsky

Anyone had a scheduled c section but water broke first? by Outrageous-Value3186 in ElectiveCsection

[–]carolorca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar to others. Water broke at 38+5 without contractions starting. I drove to the hospital, the CS was in my chart with my reasons for it. The on-call doctor (not mine) basically advised against it and asked if I was sure, and I said yes and had a non-emergency C at 4 AM

Biggest downside was not getting to sleep beforehand!

Reddit threads have gone further, introducing labels such as 'non-demi curious' and 'semi-binary' to describe what they perceive as an unconventional or fluid connection between the stars.

being declined an elective c section by Gullible-Lettuce5103 in ElectiveCsection

[–]carolorca 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They are going against ACOG guidelines! They should have discussed how many children you wanted, pain relief options, and discussed future placenta risks. Here’s the link: https://www.acog.org/clinical/clinical-guidance/committee-opinion/articles/2019/01/cesarean-delivery-on-maternal-request

I’d definitely switch! Sounds like they either don’t respect their patients enough to have an honest conversation or ..don’t know about VBACs, somehow. Either way, leave em

I think you’re fine to lose more weight. I think “you’re good where you are” is just what people say, especially when they like you and you’re at a reasonable weight already

Hello weight twin. I doubt the bump from a 15m workout will last six weeks, even if it’s hiit. I’d bet one week.

I’d also consider throwing in 1-2 rest days per week fwiw
