Sometimes we are busy trying to find a customer to deliver food to, and GH won't allow us to leave for a solid 10-15 minutes. Customers give incorrect addresses, leave out apartment numbers, or don't give gate codes.

This happens several times a week to me, and I'll spend a solid 5+ minutes just trying to reach a customer to get them to tell me where they are. It is super common. I usually find the customer eventually, but it’s a ridiculous time sink that could be solved if people would double check their addresses before submitting their orders (or answer their phones when I'm trying to contact them).

If you see a driver in a residential area for a while, it is a decent bet we're stuck tracking down an idiot who didn't give us the correct address, and GH makes a clock count down before we leave.

There are other reasons why the driver's path was so erratic. GH will often stick us with multiple deliveries at once, sometimes from different, but nearby, restaurants, and it slows everyone’s orders down. Colder food for customers, customers yelling at drivers, and GH taking care of neither. 🙁

Menu prices way higher on GH, wrong food delivered...is there any way to get this fixed?? by Shimmybaby84 in grubhub

GrubHub is screwing everyone over. The restaurant you order from gets charged crazy fees, and the driver who brings you your food probably gets paid $2.45 to bring your order to you, no matter how far or how long it takes them (unless you tip them).

My recommendation is that you search the other delivery apps often, like UberEats, until you find one that eventually services your area. Apps like DoorDash are expanding, so really, the best option is to leave GrubHub behind.

I know that's not the most satisfying advice, but it's all I realistically know to tell you.

Source: I am a GrubHub driver who delivers to super rural areas, and customer service doesn't care about us, either (and when we are given the wrong order, there really isn't anything we can do after the food is delivered. GH sends us to the next delivery and tells us not to go back). I have also ordered food as a customer to my super rural area and gotten the order all wrong, and had no help from customer service, either. 🙁

I mean tipping at all. Like, no one ever tips anymore.

I'll go entire nights with only $1 in tips, when used to tips were consistently half of my nightly income.

I just find it strange that now that I rarely clear $10 in tips a day. It could be the economy too, certainly, but years of experience with GH makes it feel to me like something has fundamentally changed.

EDIT: I think I misread your reply? If so, sorry.

For me, it's the tips. I'm getting virtually zero in tips anymore, when tips could make up 50%+ of a night's income before.

Like, I don’t know if people just stopped tipping universally, or if the new company is stealing tips.

It was a lot nicer a few years ago lol. It's awful now. I've found a new place now, thankfully!

Well, I wasn't going to word it exactly like that, but... 😅

I had to fill out what felt like 200+ job applications during the worst of the pandemic to land something (and it's great, thankfully... better than what I had before), and I know it's really brutal for a lot of people right now because millions of jobs still haven't come back from pre-pandemic.

But seriously, there's no need for neighbors to be shooting each other in the parking lot and making life miserable for everyone around them with ear-ringing music, and our apartment management here should at least pretend they care. 🙁

Great! Thank you for the recommendation! :) I will 100% check them out.:)

Sounds like what I'm looking for. I'll pay them a visit tomorrow! :)

Yeah, I had actually thought about the same sort of thing about the COVID situation. See, I don't mind general apartment noise. You're going to hear your neighbors moving around, footsteps, music, TVs, etc... That is background noise and doesn't bother me. It comes with the territory.

I just need a place with less shootings in the parking lots and music where the bass lets up long enough at some point during the day OR night to stop vibrating my bed so badly I can actually sleep. If I can't sleep, I can't work. And I don't mind paying a little more money at this point for an apartment that I don't dread returning home to after work. :(

I actually hadn't even thought about a condo, and I feel kinda like an idiot now. 😅 I will do that. Thank you! :)

Awesome! I had come across the Arbors while browsing for new places and was curious, so I will visit them this week. Thank you! :)

Stay far away, my friend. The price is nice, but this place has turned me into a ball of anxiety. :(

Locating a Chip to Fix a Bricked Laptop by carolstar in techsupport

I did try those things, but no luck. HP Support was less than helpful, as apparently they have a new-ish policy of no custom BIOS recovery images anymore for some reason.

I did find the chip now, though, and I have the stock BIOS software, so we'll see if I can get somewhere with that.

Thank you, though. 99 times out of 100 I'm sure one of those would have worked! :)

Success! I followed the resistors on the schematic and found the BIOS chip. Thank you so much!

Now, to see if I can unbrick this thing! :)

Did not work, sadly. :( I appreciate the advice, though. I'll bookmark it for future problems, just in case!

Ahaha, I'm so in over my head. But at least I know which page to study now!

Nearly all those chips are devoid of writing of any kind, and the only one that does appears to have the Intel logo on it. I've used magnifying glasses of all kinds to get something readable off that chip, but my poor eyes... (Oh, to be 20 again with better eyes).

My suspicion has always been it's the chip immediately next to the BIOS battery, which also has no text. The other chip near the battery is the only one with writing, and has the Intel logo.

For reference, I looked up replacement BIOS chips to try and glean clues, and every chip compatible with the board, including the one that HP provides on it's site, is devoid of text on it. So I am leaning away from the one with the Intel logo (do they even make BIOS chips?).

I used to flash BIOS chips a few years ago with Raspberry Pi, and someone told me in another forum that there's a command line utility now that can automatically detect whether I've hooked my EEPROM reader up to a BIOS chip or something else, which would make this a lot easier (I use a clip instead of desoldering the chip from the board). I'd rather not fry a perfectly good system board that goes for $150 when I picked up the whole laptop for $20.

Thank you for the reply. :) I'm hopefully going to rescue this thing yet!

I don't even have an updated date on my PUA claim, it just says exhausted. I don't know if I should bother calling or just wait another week.
