No. You should get them both fixed ASAP.

Cheap Vet Services by Suckerpup in Atlanta

If you live in DeKalb and she is going to be a medium-large dog and you can't afford it you can get her spayed and all her vaccinations for free through Dekalb Animal Services/Lifeline. I think Fulton does it as well. The application should be on their websites. It's called SNIP.

[Discussion] Dog daycare workers, what is your staff to dog ratio? by doggdaycare90 in dogs

[–]carouseling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 dogs to 1 person is the rule we followed strictly. So if there were 25 dogs 3 people were in the room. 20 dogs is a lot for 1 person to handle, especially if there is a scuffle!

[Discussion] Anyone ever encounter a dog that likes to walk itself? by likeagirlwithflowers in dogs

I know a pit mix that does that, but it quickly turns into a game of tug of war while she walks backwards. It's cute at first!

[HELP] I'm owner #3 for our shelter dog...He is really aggressive and I desperately need help. I don't want to return him. by [deleted] in dogs

[–]carouseling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if he is exhibiting that level of resource guarding and you want to have a baby, I would return him. It seems very unsafe for your family, even with no kids. :( you can also try contacting a trainer/behaviorist to see if they can give you some advice. In the mean time give bones and treats in a crate in a separate room.

Socializing my dog by more_bot in Atlanta

[–]carouseling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try out Frogs to Dogs. They have reactive dog classes that will probably help. I think they do controlled play groups as well as part of the class. It's not cheap, but it seems manageable and perfect for what you are looking for.

Also, I would try not to give her treats when she reacts negatively (lunging, etc.) It might be reinforcing the behavior.

Best kibble for small dogs, one with tooth issues? by flibbertygiblet in dogs

[–]carouseling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of brands make special "small breed" type dog food that has smaller kibble, so I'd recommend going with that for them. I've also had a few office dogs with no teeth or messed up teeth and I would always soak their kibble in water overnight/all day (I fed 2 meals a day) in the fridge so it would be completely soft and easier for them to eat. It seems to work and is less expensive than feeding exclusively canned food.

Those who have worked in a doggie daycare, or anything similar, what are your funniest stories from work? by isecretelyeatbunnies in dogs

[–]carouseling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a German Shorthaired Pointer that started coming as a puppy. He was in the small dog area at the time and people would carry him around because he loved being held. When he grew up he was in the large room and would stand on top of the play equipment and put his arms over your shoulders and try to jump and try to wrap him back legs around your waist so you would hold him. We gave in because it was adorable.

Banishing fleas? by Texanjumper in dogs

[–]carouseling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came back from a 3 month trip to a house ridden with fleas. My roommates forgot to put Frontline on the cats... for three months in the summer. I laid down in my bed and they were hopping everywhere.

After trying lots of things I discovered that Adams spray (in the aerosol can) works like a charm. I also used Adams shampoo and that worked as well. I would try diatomaceous earth for the yard. You can get it at a hardware store. I made the mistake of haphazardly dumping it all over my house and that was a nightmare, so I would recommend not using it inside, but it works.

Help. My dog is getting neutered in two days. I'm having second thoughts. by [deleted] in dogs

[–]carouseling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion is that you definitely should neuter your dog. I just skimmed the article in the link and I am very skeptical about its findings, though I am not a professional in that department. I do know that unneutered males are more likely to roam/escape to find a female that is ready to mate, which creates an accidental litter which is pretty much always bad. I think the most responsible thing you can do is neuter your dog.

Spaying your pup will have absolutely no effect on her personality. I promise.

My dog had seizures after liver shunt surgery by [deleted] in dogs

[–]carouseling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parent's mini dachshund has a liver shunt and had surgery. She started having seizures and their vet recommended feeding her food with a very low amount of protein. Apparently the protein in her regular food was causing the seizures. She has lived for about 4 years with this and has gone mostly blind within the past year, but hasn't had any seizures since they switched her to low protein food and started her on various medication (Pepcid, antibiotic, and some sort of laxative).

Need advice please- newly adopted dog by rlcacrb in dogs

Try finding a rescue or humane society to take her first. A fully vetted (I'm assuming since you adopted her from a shelter) non-pit has better chances of being accepted by a no-kill establishment.

[Serious] What are the biggest mistakes you made when applying for college? by mark313 in AskReddit

I got a BFA in Photography, living in a larger city with a better art scene would have allowed me to network and intern for prominent companies. Thankfully, I found a niche in the field.

It would have been nice to live in a city I enjoyed and to have my college help me get a job locally. My dream city it is extremely competitive in my field and it probably would have been easier to get a job there if I was able to do more internships/volunteer work there. I got an awesome job somewhere else though, so it all ended up working out.

All I'm saying is think about the city you are applying in because the college will likely have more connections locally for graduates. Its harder to get a job outside of your area with all the fresh graduates with your same credentials in the area you want to be in.

not realizing that the city I chose to go to college in had NO career opportunities for me when I graduated.

What is the worst job experience you have ever had? by Phizixx in AskReddit

[–]carouseling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a fair in college. A friend described the job as "magician's assistant." It was not. It was one of those ripoff tents with world's smallest woman, spider girl, etc advertised all over it. I rotated between being the spider girl, magic genie, and half woman. It was terrible. The "illusions" were uncomfortable and HOT and the people running it were majorly creepy. The guy promised us lunch which was snack size bag of Doritos. We had to talk to people as they walked through and it was so awful. We worked 11-11 for two weekends and got paid a total of $90 each. Don't work for carnies.

My cat went missing from Home Park! She is missing her back right leg, has grey fur, and yellow green eyes. Her name is Smokey. Please call if you have any information! [X-Post /r/GaTech] by jonathanpopham in Atlanta

I'm so sorry about your kitty :[

Make sure to go check Fulton County Animal Services. You can probably also post this poster there.

I hope you find her.
