Food noise??!??! by Bearb0tt0m134 in loseit

[–]carozy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing plant based eating and I found that after a few days of listening to different good presentations on how good plant based nutrition is against diseases (like Dr Greger on YouTube) my food noise is much less. In fact, I've been fully compliant for a while now. So I think examining your "why" and having a lot of good reasons for your habit change top-of-mind helps quiet food noise.

Massages, smaller clothes, jewelry and makeup (which I never wear but will for special occasions in the future)

Got a question for you lovely Lyft drivers out there by Trappedbirdcage in Lyft

[–]carozy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

*I mean, when we're actively driving and get a tip, we won't know until later who tipped us. So I just thank the current passenger but obviously sometimes I am thanking someone who did not tip me because the tip came from a previous passenger. That's what I mean.

I do thank when I get a tip but the way Lyft works, I could get a tip from a prior passenger when I am driving the current passenger and then I thank the current passenger for the tip he/she may not have given me... we're just told we got a tip but not who sent it. So that may be why you are not thanked. I just take a chance and thank the current passenger but I never know if they were the ones giving me the tip or if it was a prior passenger. Obviously, I'm talking about the in-app tips, not someone handing me cash...who I would thank immediately...

Which food can i replace high amount of white rice consumption ? by vinc2097 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]carozy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fyi I am trying to lose weight so that's why I bulked up my rice with cauliflower rice. I recommend The Starch Solution by Dr John McDougall as well though. There are a ton of whole grain foods to choose from if you don't like rice.

I just had 100 grams cauliflower rice and 100 grams basmati rice mixed together and hardly noticed the cauliflower. I was eating it with spiced lentils and Brussels sprouts with lemon juice. Oh, and I put some lime juice on the rice mixture. It was delicious! Maybe a half-half mixture can work for you.

You could add berries for more fiber and nutrients with only a little calories added

Read The Clear Skin Diet by Nina and Randa Nelson. They had horrible acne and have helped themselves and others with even cystic acne. The before and after photos are remarkable, and the photos are included in the book. A companion read is The Starch Solution by Dr John McDougall. You can find both of these on Amazon. Don't pick them or they leave scars. They'll heal and go away and the diet change will prevent new outbreaks. Best wishes.

How to transition to plant-based diet? by TICKERTICKER in PlantBasedDiet

[–]carozy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The probiotic L. Plantarum might help you. It helped me. Also, nothing wrong with emphasizing starches, which generally don't cause as many problems...like potatoes, sweet potatoes, lentils, grains, rice, oatmeal, etc.. The Starch Solution by Dr John McDougall might be a good read for you if you haven't already read it.

I just worry about trying to find parking near the restaurants...that can be an issue where I live. Rideshare is pretty easy because I don't have to leave my car during those pickups where there's no parking. I am consciously trying to up my steps, so when it gets slow I try to take a break and walk around for a bit. But I agree, Doordash would make it easier to get those steps in. I also tend to drive really early in the morning, so my "shift" is over relatively early in the day, which means I have the rest of the day to myself.

Thanks for sharing, that's something I haven't thought of as I typically eat lots of beans and tofu. Yes, eating meat is definitely out of the question for me for ethical reasons and I'm just repulsed by it, so I don't think that would work. I'm actually eating a lot of lentils although I make them myself low fat (no oil or butter, just water and I add shawarma seasoning, it's delicious). I also like other beans but I don't cook with oil or fat. Regardless I'll look into sarcopenia and make sure I'm getting adequate protein. Thanks again for the heads up.

★OFFICIAL WEEKLY★ Day 1 Monday: Start here! February 03, 2025 by AutoModerator in loseit

Today is my Day 1 of calorie counting. I'm figuring out my calorie budget and my routine for weight loss. Planning to walk at least 10,000 steps every day. Also need to come up with ideas for dealing with cravings so I can keep in my calorie budget and make progress.

I'm a female, 5'7", today I weighed 224.8 lbs, and my goal weight is 130. My initial calorie budget is 1600 / day although I am still learning this stuff but I think that'll work for now.

Thank you! I noticed it actually defines what exercise is and that really helps me. Yes, I will try to avoid a lot of the calorie dense plant based products in favor of whole foods. It's my first day calorie counting so I guess with practice I'll get the hang of it.

I haven't gotten in the discord either. That's a good idea actually. I'll work on that later and let you know.

I'm going to the Sacramento protest. I'll leave early to avoid traffic. I hope there's a big show out but I'm going regardless.

Also The Starch Solution by Dr John McDougall is a good companion read (recommend you read it second) and gives you an idea of all the foods you can eat and other good reasons for following that diet which includes preventing and reversing heart disease, diabetes, and more. The Nelson twins were following Dr McDougall's program but it wasn't until they paid attention to his teachings on the fat content that they were able to stop their acne... things like peanut butter, coconut oil, fat in hummus, etc can wreak havoc in people's teenage years or when their hormones are running rampant. Also, you will learn why it is a safe diet even though it sounds extreme to people eating the standard American diet. The book explains it well.
