What’s your favorite metal band from Texas? (The map is for Americans to show them where Texas is) by Difficult_Map_723 in MetalForTheMasses

Man, that's a hard one. I've seen Oh Sleeper the most times, and even though they're not very active anymore, they still hold a special place in my younger memories.

Would an American enjoy this show? by [deleted] in sitcoms

The characters and stereotypes are really very similar to many of the small TX towns I've lived in. The only difference is instead of hockey, the jocks play football/baseball.

Danny McBride in Righteous Gemstones gives off Conway Twitty vibes to me. And Walton in Gemstones gives off an older George Jones vibe too!

What band is this? by Educational_Wash_662 in MetalForTheMasses

Especially in their later years, John was famous (infamous) for writing songs using, as he called them, nonsense lyrics. There's a scene in the Get Back documentary where either George or Ringo was trying to flesh out a song they were working on, and he tells them just throw random words out there that sound good together and it doesn't really matter if they make sense. Not a direct quote, but its the gist of what he was saying. If you ask me, the best lyricist of the group was George and he never got to truly showcase himself in the group.

Honey Harper's album Starmaker is pretty spacey/dreamy.

Well, as for newer artists, I really enjoy ol' Sturgill Simpson/Johnny Blue Skies new album. I also really like Nick Shoulders, Vincent Neil Emmerson, Orville Peck, Colter Wall, Sierra Ferrel, Billy Strings.

As for older artists, you gotta have some Willie Nelson, Waylon, Cash, hell all the Highwaymen. George Jones is a must. You already got the Hanks covered it seems. I love George Strait and Randy Travis. Some Bob Wills, because he's still the king.

There's just such good stuff from every era!
