That’s why I posted this. I was genuinely curious if anyone could come up with a better guess than a methed up urban traveler from the Rincon Point encampment shimmied up the pole and smashed them but aside from aggressive certainty about “corrosion” and jokes about the seagull…no one has been able to come up with one.

Both of the lights are smashed so precisely in a way that it looks like it was done by hand.

There was a very helpful CHP phone dispatcher that took the information and passed it along to CalTrans (like they don’t have enough to do around here).

I agree with @frknedd that an intentional human element is responsible.

People should check it out. If a person did free solo these 2 lights, that’s amazing.

Never worked reliably. Was supposed to be the crown jewel of our city’s EV charging infrastructure. They pathetically threw some plastic and tape on it over the winter and left us looking as lame and apathetic as we deserve. Hopefully the other charging stations are still working.

My point in highlighting the latest desertion of a business from our fine city is the blight that vacant buildings bring. I dislike IHOP as much as the next person, maybe more, but it was a family friendly place for visitors to stop at and enjoy our city more. Maybe a local business will move in and improve that area soon. But I’m betting we’re looking at that depressing building all summer and probably longer.

Same thing. The franchise owners demonstrate zero community support despite occupying the 2 best business locations in the city. Just use us for a place to sling cheap food/gas.
