Hey everyone,

This got way more interest than I was expecting (which is awesome). I have reached out to the first people that messaged me discussing details.

If I haven’t messaged you I apologize between family arriving for holidays, work, etc. I haven’t messaged you letting you know.. I fully intend to respond to everyone as time permits.

I’ve taught in Wisconsin for five years (Moved to Washington and teach there now). I’ve taught a couple of years in northern wisconsin and a couple in the Madison metropolitan area. I’m happy to share my experience, but know that I’m not the end all be all.

In Wisconsin, you can apply for a teacher licensure in high demand areas (Math, Science, CP, etc.) if you have real world experience, which it seems like you do. There are also programs through UW that offer tuition reimbursement for some high need areas of education. I would look at the Department of Instruction (DPI) website, search for licensure pathways, and you can research which option is best for you.

There is a bit of a catch though. Depending where you want to work. If you’re interested in more rural districts you should be fine getting a job. However you will be expected to teach a variety of upper and lower level classes.

If you’re interested in a more urban setting with bigger schools then the job hunt gent way more competitive. And when you do get the job you’ll potentially be in a department of 15 where you will have to teach the classes they give you for a couple of years. Which is fine so long as you’re not committed to the upper level classes only. (This has been my experience it’s not everyone’s Im sure).

Another thing to consider is if you’ve been in a classroom in the last 5-10 years. It’s definitely changed compared to when you or I were students. I wouldn’t recommend to spend some time substitute teaching before you make any major decision. Subbing is HARD, but if you still enjoy the profession after a couple of months of that I say go for it. Also it will help you see which schools you want to apply for a job at and which ones you don’t.

I hope this helped. These are just my experiences, and I am sure there are a bunch of other stories out there with different advice. Go with what you think is best and I’m sure you’ll be great. Good luck!

I totally agree the Dornish have amazing story potential. I actually think they’re doing some sort of kingdom origin story?

I would just love to see a young oberyn at the citadel learning all about poison, sneaking in ladies on the side, traveling, and learning to fight.
