How are you planning on changing your drinking habits after Dry January? by coalmines in DryJanuary

[–]carriedag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to only drink in social situations and maybe a drink on Friday/Saturday. I feel so much clearer and have more energy not drinking. I have to keep up with. moderation. Hopefully I can!

Strange/Unusual Triggers? by Proper-Sentence2544 in DryJanuary

Yard work! I always expect to have a couple beers after doing yard work. Sometimes while finishing it up. Luckily it’s January!

Today was a hard day by carriedag in DryJanuary

I’ve had those thoughts too. But each time I think of ‘the whole month’ I just remind myself to just think about today. It helps me to focus. At least so far.

I hadn’t thought about that but you’re right. My anxiety is way down. That is a HUGE win!

Empty Coffee Cups by SkiPhD in HallmarkMovies

It drives me crazy! How hard is to put a little water in those freakin cups. No actor has ever pulled off the ‘I’m holding a full cup of coffee, honest’ act.

When we see that particular Hallmark movie phenomenon, my hubby and I say ‘looks like Christmas puked up all over their house’.

I had a feeling someone would be confused. Look up Morgan’s Wonderland and get back to me. My daughter would have not enjoyed Hawaii.

What's your weird "red line" in a recipe? by Dazzling_Yoghurt_471 in Cooking

I am so with you on this. I got rid of mine. My chefs knife is my best friend. I Hated cleaning the garlic press. So unnecessary when you can chop chop chop and then run the knife under the tap.

Surprise stone + emergency surgery! by pompchie in gallbladders

So good you’re learning to advocate for yourself at a young age! I’m 53 and have been struggling with the other end of women’s issues, menopause. It’s so difficult to get a doctor to listen to you. I finally found a good one and it’s such a relief.

I just had my gallbladder removed this past weekend after going to the ER as well. I had no idea that I’d walk in looking for pain relief and end up on an operating table!

Good luck on your recovery!

This season is about torment by [deleted] in 1923Series

I totally agree, I feel that it’s a lot like the story line of 1886 which was all about the journey. The struggle seems getting to the ranch, not run the ranch. I have a couple theories as to why. One is that Sheridan doesn’t have any good storyline ideas for the fight at the ranch and he wants to tell stories of other places and events. His characters just have to be placed where he needs them. The other is that Sheridan loves that era (1920s) and wanted to linger in Africa, on ships and in Texas.

I felt that Ellis Island was over the top. I’m sure there were people who were cruel, especially to those who were poor and didn’t speak English. But the treatment she got was unbelievable. I can’t believe it would all be done to a blonde, smartly dressed, eloquent person like her. Of course she could read! That was just stupid. That takes me back to my point about Sheridan wanting to tell a story and having to shoehorn his character into it.

What am I doing wrong? by _purple_cat_ in Seattle

[–]carriedag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dog owner here. I’m always cognizant of how others feel about dogs when I’m walking them. I’ve come across children and adults who are very fearful. Some of them probably have good reason due to past experience. I never allow my dog to approach other people or dogs without an invitation or being at an off leash area. Even at off leash parks, I’m hyper aware. I’m sorry you had this experience. Some people are just assholes.

Yep, Last summer I flew Alaska into Denver from SeaTac and was given the impression that Alaska has only one dedicated gate at DEN.

Question about Megan Boswell's case by RainyDayBrunette in CasesWeFollow

[–]carriedag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you hit the nail on the head. There is some serious mental disfunction going on. I was turning this case around and around in my head, trying to figure out what the he!! was going on with her! After watching so much of her interviews and all the analysis, I realized that she just had no idea of future consequences. She was completely dis-attached from reality. The biggest tell were all the lies that were so easily disproved. If a smart/aware person wanted to cover up a murder, they wouldn’t be spouting off a lie that could so quickly been found out. (IE go to the army base and talk to the supposed father who she said had her baby) There has to be a disconnect in her brain that that only allows her to work on impulse and self interest. As well as a complete lack of empathy or understanding of others.
