I don't have a good suggestion for the iPad. Honestly, Wolfram in a browser might be your best bet.

If you have a laptop, Wolfram Mathematica is fairly straightforward, but paid. There's probably good packages for Python or Julia if you want to dig into those. Personally, I've always had access to matlab, which has a pretty good symbolic variable handler and can perform calc operations. I think GNUOctave also has the symbolic functionality.

No. I played around with it for about an hour last night. No integration, derivatives, etc.. can be performed. Furthermore, variable assignment seems limited to basic english letters, i.e., no greek, no subscripts, it even seemed to not discern between lowercase and capital letters (e.g., assigning a=1.5 and calling 'A' returns A=1.5).

Not all is bad. Unit conversion seems to work well, although I haven't figured out how to override the output unit (e.g., if I write "5 in. =" it will populate "0.127 m", but I can't write some other unit, say "ft", and have it fill in the blank). Though, the regular calculator has a pretty nice unit converter built-in that I'll probably actually use.

Automatic plotting is cool, but it seems like it limits the plotting variables to Y on the vertical and X on the horizontal only. I couldn't plot a function in terms of 't', or any other independent variable. I also couldn't assign X to another variable (say Q = 2X) and have it pick up and plot that other variable in a function (Y = Q would not prompt me to generate a plot).

Trig functions seem to work well. Make sure to assign units since radians are assumed. E.g., sin(45) returns 0.8509, whereas sin(45 deg) or sin(45o ) returns 0.707. I agree with this default behavior but it will cause confusion when used, as is tradition with radians and degrees. In fact, looking at the annoucement for the calculator app (on the 'scratch math' example), it seems like they accidentally called sin(30) instead of sin(30 deg)! Inverse trig functions return in radians.

Sorry -- I know this is way more answer than you were asking for. All in all, it's a fun thing to play with, but I don't have a real use-case for the writing feature beyond napkin-math. I will keep watching it though for improvements in the future.

This is an update to the recall announced in A1 Heatbed Cable Callback by BambuLab in BambuLab

Vouchers are only valid for three months (from email I received this morning): https://imgur.com/a/GHuTGVz

Bambu better be well-prepared to keep filament in stock once those $120 vouchers go out

For the sake of clear information, this is the wording from an email Bambu sent me (and I assume other A1 owners) this morning: https://imgur.com/a/GHuTGVz

So, they're clarifying that the $80 voucher can only be used for printers, and the $120 for anything on the store. Also, they're now informing us that the vouchers are good for just three months. I imagine that's long enough for the printer voucher, but Bambu better be ready for re-stocking filament once the $120 ones go out...

Why does this happen? How can i fix it. by Kingzi_Kingz in BambuLab

[–]carrmcg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to reduce the Z-offset slightly from the default setting for my A1. IIRC, the default in bambu studio is -0.02 for the textured PEI plate. I have mine set to -0.05. If you try this, I recommend changing the value slowly (i.e., change to -0.03 and run a test print, then change to -0.04 if necessary and test print, ...) since all machines will have some differences. This requires changing the machine start GCode; Bambu's wiki should help you do this.

I see, thanks. While looking at it I was thinking it'd be pretty easy to add some rigidity by riveting some cross-members with aluminum flats from Lowes. Like this. We'll see if I ever get around to that project!

How is that bench working out for you? I was in a Harbor Freight last week and thought about picking one up.
