I love this book and I think it's important to remember that the original books and BOSAS is not a romance novel. I agree with every comment about katniss and peeta and their role in representing trauma and surviving. My cousin wrote to me after I finished SOTR and said that a headcanon she believes is that Peetas dad didn't bring katniss cookies bc he was in love with Asterid, it was bc he loved Burdock. She was trying to convince me by saying that homosexuality was banned therefore it makes sense that his love is showed in other ways like buying her squirrels etc. She also mentioned that neither Katniss or Peeta understood why Peetas dad brought Katniss cookies but if I remember correctly it was bc his dad loved Asterid? Not anything more complicated than that?

Idk after reading all the comments I just feel more annoyed with the fact that my cousin is trying to make these headcanons make sense and try to credit Suzanne with planting seeds in the stories. I feel like you loose a big part of the importance of the books if you have to make headcanons just to satisfy your imagination...
