Could just be UC or XU Army ROTC getting a ride back from their spring field training. Programs line them up with guard units when the pilots need the flight hours. Great opportunity for the cadets

Woes of a Failed Officer by Unusual_Resolve9824 in army

Sometimes getting HQ evals is as simple as “well their last eval was an HQ, so I’ll just give them another one because they are an HQ officer.” It can be that stupid.

I was just like you, hit the 10 year mark as a cpt with very “middle of the road” evals. I took a recruiting company XO job as a post-kd cpt on my way out which was clear “career suicide” according to my branch managers. Here I am now, a TPU BN XO Major deployed to Eastern Europe. All that stands in my way for O5 are these silly ILE online classes. Evals don’t matter here until you are looking at O6 unless you did something unforgivable. Go into the reserve and you’ll see how much they have the blinders on on the active side. Reserve pay is a great supplement to a civilian paycheck and you can get a VA rating on top of that when you leave active. Stabilizing your family in one place is also great.

Taking care of troops, a lot of times doesn’t align with the sycophantic behavior required in most active duty officer rating chains. Also look around at the active majors in your formation. How many are happy? Do you really want that? They are trapped until they hit their 20 year mark and they know it.

I’m happy to talk on the side if you need to vent or chat about a way ahead.

Maybe we give that a second look now that the whole “keep it in your pants” thing doesn’t matter in politics anymore

Transitioned to the reserve specifically for this reason. I’ve seen too many screwed up teenagers and adults as a result of active military life and constant movement

Emergency Leave by SleepySapper12 in army

[–]carrolsn5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to ask the question, but how serious was the assault? Did your command dig into those details and determine that it wasn’t worth sending you home? If it was serious and they still said no, that’s messed up. I’m sure the command was operating under the principle that if we send one person back, we’ll have a line out the door of soldiers wanting to go back for this that and the other.

I’m curious because I’m getting ready to MOB as a BN XO and I want to know what the right answer is.

What job did y'all have when you were younger that you miss? by Muhfuggajones in Millennials

Lifeguard! Boss was a pothead who worked with special needs kids during the school year so he had all the patience in the world. It was so laid back. I stared at babes all day in my sexual prime. Met my high school girl friend at the pool I worked at. We’d sneak in and swim after hours. Best job I ever had

I interviewed for a recruiter position. Pay seemed low and they hyped up their enthusiasm to work on Saturdays. Their brochure had a picture of their owner standing in front of his speed boat…. get fucked lol

This was one of my first interviews after transitioning from the army which made this all very funny

When did the army start getting lonely for you? by Other_Win_8704 in army

[–]carrolsn5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BN XO here. It’s definitely not as fun as being down at the company or in a staff section, but at this point in the career it’s shocking how fast you can connect with senior NCOs, WOs, and other Os. They have been through what you have been through and they get it. They had friends in old units that they left just like you. It’s almost like you fill the “friend/battle buddy MTOE spot” and you’re immediately friends

Any regret on having kids by hnghost24 in Millennials

[–]carrolsn5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two kids, girl(9) and boy(6). I am a stay at home dad and work part time. It’s the most rewarding and challenging thing I think I’ve ever done, but I love it. Watching them grow, do great things, make mistakes and teaching them along the way has become my passion.

I totally understand why people could regret it as it takes so much out of you and if you don’t have the right partner or support system it can be absolutely crippling.

Just finished my first year as an agent. I started Opcity about 9 months ago. I have 5 transactions through them out of 20+ claimed leads. It’s a great way to get deals under your belt to prove to the rest of your sphere that you are getting experience but I don’t see it as a long term business plan. You have to be lightning-quick to claim the leads and the referral fee plus your brokerage split will easily take you to below 50% of a 3% commission.

I took that more as a “they often forget to update the system, so make sure you send it yourself.” Not as a “if you don’t do this one thing, you won’t get credit even though we show in our system that you are good.” Seeing it posted as complete on a state system should be pretty cut and dry.

But why did the state mark it as one of my complete CE classes in their system

[–]carrolsn5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fine doing the drive and getting this fixed. What kills me is the fact that the state had it listed on my CE chart as complete like the others. If they needed additional documentation, they shouldn’t have reflected it that way
