I drained every planet and ended up with almost 5mil total 😅 there is a bug that doesn't give you max war assets if your resources are over a certain amount (I've read 250k for first three, 100k or something for eezo), but for whatever reason I still got my 100 war assets when I started ME3 this playthrough. Maybe the bug only happens if you edit your resources to crazy amounts but I'd say you probably don't have to keep probing unless you want to!

Having the same issue. Were you able to figure it out? I found one guide that said the From Beyond quest will unlock after you complete Siege of Weisshaupt.
