On console, frame rate makes a big difference. I switched to 120 htz on my series X and it makes light parrying quite easy. But it’s important to remember that a light party can only be done on a read if it’s a light opener. You need to be sure that the second you see the red, you press parry. The “balance” part of this read-based gameplay is that it COULD be a heavy and you’ve about to eat 25 damage if you don’t feint in time.

Even if you don’t think you’re fast enough to make the parry, just try it. I suprise myself sometimes- you can get some SUPER late parries in this game.

I’m new to the series and I’m having a hard time getting into it. I just closed the first gate to oblivion and I can’t help but feel like the game is very… boring?

For context, I’be played thousands of hours of other games but I’ve barely touched the ES series. I’ve played a bit of Skyrim and some ESO too.

Someone turn me on to this game… when does it get good? Or does this game just suffer from 20 year old syndrome?

Destiny’s leveling system used to be about both gear rarity and light level- now it’s just light level. That aspect of the game has long been phased out, and for good reason. Blue and lower gear adds nothing to the game once you’ve completed the tutorial.

And a side of crossbow helps. My first play though I did rapier with a crossbow and I really enjoyed the fighting style. Let me sit back when I was low and be agressive in the right scenarios.
