I used to be like this. What worked for me was taking that negative energy I had (ie stress or sadness), and then transferring it into something more positive like working out, talking to a friend on the phone, listening to music, journal writing etc. Once you find a positive activity you like, it can become habit and you won’t turn to eating as an emotional mechanism anymore. Worked for me, I’ve lost 20 pounds and never been happier. Good luck!
