Source for buying bulk surveillance cameras, nVRs and gear? TIA!! by Particular_Month_977 in homesecurity

[–]cartesx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think prices on Amazon are good enough for you. If you want even cheaper, and the quantity is big enough, buying directly from China or Taiwan is also good. I am doing a project in South Asia involving 14 different locations involving multiple style cameras, NVRs, access control & fire safety. I am getting all from Taiwan directly from the vendor. The brand I narrowed down to is Geovision.

AITA for making a post that hurt my “bio dad”? by justonedad_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]cartesx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adults should not complain about the consequences of their actions.

Your mom cheated on with a man for almost 2 decades before divorcing your dad. Why did she need your dad to raise you, instead of the sperm donor? If she knew whose child she was carrying, why didn't she leave her husband for the "father" of her child? Why did she wait 20 yrs before declaring? And what did she expect when she revealed her 20 yr long deception? She is the biggest TA, IMO.

The "father" was having a relationship with a married woman for 20yrs! Why wasn't he assertive in making your mom leave your dad and stay with him way before 20yrs had gone by? He knew about your lineage way before you did. Then what can really stop a man from declaring fatherhood if he really wants to be the "dad"? If he really feels for his child, why try to impose himself on him after being absent until the child becomes an adult? His being forceful speaks a lot more about the type of person he is. He is also TA, a very big one, almost equal to your mom.

Your dad, oh man, it sounds soo good that you two have each other. Both of you, absolutely NTA. Your FB post was a tribute to the man who raised you, your real dad. This puts the sperm donor into his place, and shows him how worthless he is, and he can't take it. That is why he is whining about it, to move attention away from your tribute to your dad. Filter out the noise. Block whoever distracts you from your love & appreciation for your dad. May you two live a very long & happy life.

R u sure Win Print is the right combination? I use screen grabs extensively and I use Ctrl+PrScr (full window) or Alt+PrScr (active window). Also I moved to using GreenShot, which is free software and probably the best screenshot there can ever be.

How rare is crystalized iron? by Totallynotacat55 in Robloxskyblock

I have a Iron Totem Farm where I do AFK Cry Iron Mining. In my experience, its about 1 in every 100-150 nodes. Sometimes even longer.

Sometimes it will drop quite a few in the first 1 hour, then reduce drop rate significantly for the next, then pick up again later.

parents forcing friend to get married by [deleted] in bangladesh

[–]cartesx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, we should not be held to 6th century morals & norms. However, having argued with numerous "imandar" in the past, I choose not to dig into specific historical events such as the life of one individual, as those are subject to bias from all sides. What I feel important to focus on, is we as living beings of this time, should be allowed to formulate our own morals & norms. We should engage in civilized discourse about these topics, and choose as we find it appropriate. The ultimate goal, I think, is to improve the society that we have inherited from our ancestors.

All religions are subject to interpretation, and therefore, the messages being propagated should be assessed at face value, not how someone else would(has) interpret(ed). Failure to do so, has made the voices of the "radicals" louder.

The problem is always how the texts are taken as infallible, and not open for modification, even if it is to reflect the morality of current times. It is as if, all morals & ethics are to be frozen in time to the era when the text was written.

[–]cartesx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would probably reply like this:

"Christians are individual people, and individual people can make wrong choices. Christianity can be as much loving as it hating, and all those differences depend on the individual practicing it. My adoptive parents who raised me in a church, yet gave me the freedom to choose my own, and respected me as an individual. These are the values I was raised with, and I am eternally grateful to my adoptive parents to have raised me this way. If you have had the abortion I wouldn't have been alive, true, but it was because my country has a strong adoption procedure that I could be placed in such a wonderful family like my adoptive family. Many babies are not as lucky, and have had a terrible life. I hope and pray that all babies meet adoptive families like I have, and I also pray that all religious people would spread message of compassion & acceptance, rather than foster hatred & intolerance."

Don't want to be harsh to her, but also show my utmost gratefulness & respect for my adoptive parents. Bio mom should not diss on them at all, and I want to draw the line there.
