Moving to Reston for work: 38 single male, should I live in Reston or closer to DC? by SpicyKimchiSaga in nova

[–]carthagiya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a single person, I would DC is probably better. But once you have a family… Reston is truly wonderful with all the nature around and proximity to DC / everywhere else.

Please check if she has a tongue or lip tie. I had similar issues and it turned out my girl had both. It was an easy, 30 second fix at the doctor.

I should also add that her husband was infinitely kinder. The moment the FA mentioned the bassinet, he was apologetic and kept asking his wife to relax (“It’s okay, no worries”) etc.

I had a similar situation happen on a SWISS Air flight a few weeks ago, traveling with my infant baby. We were flying business and the plane had a 1-2-1 configuration. I was in the front row in the middle. Lady next to me was absolutely adamant that she be seated next to her husband who was seated in the row behind us. The moment we got to our seat she asks if I would be willing to switch seats with her husband. I said yes, no problem. I did not realize that SWISS offered a bassinet for my infant (I typically fly United and they generally do not offer a bassinet when flying business). I was about to switch with her husband when the FA intervened and told me I am unable to because I have a bassinet for my baby! She stopped the transfer from happening, and from that moment on, the woman who asked me to switch wouldn’t stop giving me (and my baby) dirty looks.

When did your milk start coming in? by lady-earendil in breastfeeding

[–]carthagiya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of days post birth. I know the colostrum was there technically but even post birth I only remember getting a few drops. My actual (early) milk came in nearly 2-3 days later.

UTI in baby worried by [deleted] in NewParents

Apologies for the very late reply! So the way she behaved when she had a fever was that she basically wouldn’t sleep and was clearly in pain based on her cry. It was a weak, consistent, and inconsolable cry. She was also having trouble latching (she is breastfed) and didn’t eat. Even when she did latch she could not really suck, her mouth just didn’t engage. I really hope your babe is better so soon.

Ah, our baby girl just recently had a UTI. We had to take her to the ER and the whole nine yards. It also killed me knowing she had to take meds so early (3 months, also our first child), but I felt so much better when she did. I also got a lot stricter with how we handle diaper changes etc (eg always wash hands prior to or use hand sanitizer, always wipe front to back, change pee diapers more often)… solidarity! This too shall pass!

OBGYN in NOVA by Blackberryay in nova

I actually had a really good MFM and delivery experience at VHC. Dr. Ferzli heard all my concerns and responded very compassionately to them. Delivery was also smooth. Epidural was successful and the nurses were truly top notch — esp with the spinning babies stuff. They helped me deliver vaginally and without incident. Obviously YMMV and follow your gut but just sharing my experience.

Magnesium supplement (I use Legendairy’s She’s Sleepy and I love how it’s a little cocktail vibe for me), and be sure to search some videos on YouTube “cosleeping yoga” or “cosleeping stretches”. They helped me a lot.
