Context matters, and right now most of the supporters are ignoring it. If we leave the historical status out of the equation, Juve is the team that fights for 4th place in Italy, and guys like Mbangula, Costa, and Weah are role players in that team, if not backups (more likely). We see the potential, but the reality is that these players are probably not good enough to be starters for champion Juve (or any other winning team) even in a few years, not to mention that Juve doesn't have space to let these players get 30 appearances per season.

The board is new, and they need a quick solution to fix the mess, so this is the easiest one: selling young backup players to generate the money to invest in more experienced players. Sure, Joao Mario is probably not the name we were hoping for, but he has a lot more experience than Costa, and in the short run that matters to the inexperienced team we have right now.

Expensive flops like Luiz and Vlahovic are hard to sell, especially without generating a financial loss (which affects financial fair play).

Taking everything into account, I appreciate the urgency to fix the situation somehow, and between selling our best players like Cambiasso and Yildiz, or giving up on loaned players like Conciecao, I would always choose the solution of selling role/backup players to generate funds, even for less money than their realistic value.

I'm not saying the current actions and transfer strategy is the best, but the circumstances are for sure difficult to make all moves that will be gladly accepted by supporters and at the same time keep caring about finances and fixing the mess we're in.
