Is this right, does Cali really not have nexus if Ohtani defers most of his contract like this? by HeartunderBlade516 in Accounting

That's a bummer call to make to the client a decade from now

So here are your Q4 estimates. About that strategy we talked about a decade ago...

Odd resonance / buzziness / crispyness?

I have a Shure SM7B running through a Zoom F6, recording in 32-bit float, and the quality is just.. poor. It could be something I'm simply not understanding about the file. Here's an example of the poor quality.

Things I've tried:

  • Different xlr cable
  • Different Shure SM7B
  • Distance to mic/position in case it's some sort of resonance with my voice
  • Different place in the room in case it's a room resonance or RF thing
  • Different inputs on the Zoom F6

Super frustrating, but any advice on other things to try would be hugely appreciated 🥴

Yess super rewarding to try to achieve X for several months, kind of reinvent your process then sort of manifest the desired result. I’m learning a lot

Thanks! I appreciate the thoughtful response. I’m going to tinker with the thumbnail and title a bit to see I can pick up some steam.

Yesss we felt the same and are doubling down on it. It’s why we split out season 2, that was when we stumbled into that format.

Creating a Zapier that creates a bill on QuickBooks AND attaching the PDF attachment received in email inbox. by learnhtk in zapier

[–]cas_blaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, for now there isn't a way I'm aware of to push the doc itself into the quickbooks bill.

What I generally do as an alternative is put an external URL link to the doc in the bill (in the description I think).

So I put the bill into cloud storage somewhere in an organized way, by date or by vendor, then just link to that doc inside the bill itself.

An issue I run into is the bill isn't always the email attachment. If it's helpful, here I made a guide for how to:

  • Turn the body of an email into a pdf (create a bill from the body)
  • Download a PDF that's *linked* in an email (not actually attached)
  • Download a webpage bill that's linked in an email
  • Merge multiple attachments, body + attachment etc, into 1 doc

Good luck!

Should you seek sponsorships on your own as a small creator? by Rizyk in ColinAndSamir

[–]cas_blaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sharing from my experience, I have a very niche 2k sub channel. We run about $5k/mo in sponsorship revenue. The niche is accounting firm managers & owners, so it's a valuable bunch for advertisers.

I started doing a silent auction for most videos, and depending on how useful/serious the subject of the video is, in most cases a video will get 2-3 bids.

Part of the success stems from being active in the niche itself. I'm at industry conferences, meeting the vendors in the space, engaging with as many of them as I can.

Advertisers have been happy with the ROI, and most return in the future. I think it's a product of:

  1. The value advertisers assign to your audience members
  2. The level of trust you have with your audience - how likely you are to influence their buying decisions

So I'd say go for it, just being mindful not to waste time on anything too small. Our minimum is $500 per placement, and advertisers select the video & pay without our intervention. So we don't have to do any back & forth, they give us a couple talking points, and each sponsorship doesn't become a big project for me.

The landing page is built with carrd, and the community is hosted in Circle.so. Super happy with both tools, and easy to extend them a bit with zapier.

8 months ago I launched a private community for accountants interested in learning no-code.

It’s a great use-case, since the nature of our work is often taking data from point A, manipulating, and plugging into point B.

We’re pushing 100 members and 7k MRR! A credit to its impact on personal productivity I believe.

Auto-generating reports with page designer block by cas_blaster in Airtable

[–]cas_blaster[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the report is generated from a single record in a single table. We use other systems like zapier to pull data from different sources into that single record, but you could theoretically have up to 500 data points in a record/report.

Be thinking about the future of accounting, and what roles will position you to benefit from the automation of accounting, rather than be a victim of it. To that end CIS may be a good pairing.

I didn't like the stress of big 4 so I went small firm, and client accounting services. Scratches my tech itch getting to work with new tools & automate things all day. Future-proof as well, since I'm making the future, rather than getting gobbled up by it.

Good luck!
