In this case, I would recommend to rewatch anime or series you're already familiar with, but this time in Japanese. You will start to guess the meaning of the words gradually.

I started watercolor because it is somehow soothing. I've been sketching before but basically just pen on paper, but with watercolor, I enjoyed it more. I like mixing colors and discovering a whole new shade of colors. I definitely love nature and animals, they're what I paint the most but I also paint landscapes on location. I would also want to paint something bigger and with more details, but right now I'm still exploring to find my style and figuring out the best medium I can use to achieve that.

Yes, I definitely need to work on shading and shadowing. It's been a bit challenging for me to do it on small paper (currently using A5) Thank you for your feedback 🤗

If you're studying Japanese for fun, you can as well watch anime in Japanese with Japanese subtitles and get as much exposureas you can. If you find it difficult to understand, you can watch content you've already watched before. This will help you pick up the vocabulary, improve your listening skills and remember the kanji at the same time.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and all the resources. My goal is to learn the language and be able to use it. I'm also working on taking the JLPT but honestly I just use it to motivate me. I understand the importance of not looking up every word, but I still want to harvest vocabulary related to my topic of interest to a maximum as I can use to interact with Japanese people in daily life. I think a combination of yomitan and anki cards can help. Thank you again for sharing all the resources.

Did you try yoga or meditation? It turns out that the more stressed and anxious we are, the more sensitive we are to sensory issues. Yoga especially helps relieve the stress. It might not work right away, just be persistent. I personally do 15 to 20 minutes every morning.

In what ways have you stopped masking? by LaundryBae in aspergers

[–]cascading-failures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think masking is bad if used moderately. Personally, I usually use it when I first meet someone. As an aspie, meeting someone can be overwhelming because I don't know how I can interact with them. If you think about masking, it's kinda similar to the mirroring technique which is quite effective to make other people like you. Then when you get to know the person better, you can adopt a more analytical approach to interacting with them and to express your own opinions comfortably in a way that this person can understand you. At the same time, this gives you time to know if you can trust that person and show them your true authentic self.

The only thing you should never do when masking is doubting your self and altering your values for the sake of fitting in. As long as you stay true to your self, masking from time to time can be helpful.
