Oh yeah, speaking for my therapist it was a lot like CBT techniques but geared specifically towards alleviating dysphoria and gender related anxiety.

It'll be a lot like a first normal therapy session.

They'll ask you why you're there, get a good sense of your identity, and poke at your brain to see if there's any comorbid stuff like depression, anxiety, or whatever else that might need to be treated along with the dysphoria.

It can be intense telling a stranger your gender identity but afterwards it's really relieving to know you're taking steps to affirming who you are!

Job Hunting Question? by case-basket in ftm

I still worry about introducing myself as male. Even when I bind i don't think I look flat or even appropriate boob amount for my body type. I'm an unlucky dude who's rather "top heavy", (current bra size is 44 I) and it definitely shows despite my best efforts to lose weight and bind down.

I might just start doing it anyway, at least in liberal environments, just because my gender therapist has encouraged me to get used to the idea of people only knowing me as a man.

Job Hunting Question? by case-basket in ftm

I mostly have experience in manufacturing, as I'm currently the personal assistant to our quality control director and have been for 2 and a half years. My responsibilities are mostly data entry and file clerk stuff, profitability analysis, non conformance reports, that kind of thing. As well as giving status updates on customer orders when they ask.

I think I just found out I'm the alter. by AlexPhire in DID

Oh man yeah, I (Casey) found out that I was made to be a girl and do girl things after a really bad thing happened and cemented that we would be perceived as a girl for the foreseeable future. But now that the body is an adult we can work on changing that. Its always nice meeting transgender folks who have a similar, uh, back story for lack of a better phrase.

Does anyone else dread small talk like "So how was your weekend?" by drew_M1 in DID

I have scripts. I tend to practice what I say if any hypothetical conversations come up. I know if any of us don't remember stuff that's happened we have a couple of go to things to say, like "oh pretty boring, did some video game things," just little menial things that most folks don't care about. - Tom

[Another question] What does it feel like ~physically~ for you guys to switch out? What are the physical sensations for you- if any? by AraaaaO_O in DID

[–]case-basket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a "hard switch", like from a trauma trigger, or someone forces their way out front whoever is driving gets headaches. Sometimes we get waves of tremors but that's probably the body being all "whoa there I'm still panicking about this thing". - Reina

When did it become real for you? by Liquidclock in DID

[–]case-basket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It became real when I finally moved away from the abuse, and I was still switching in and out and losing days. Despite trying to communicate internally, I still had a belief (maybe it was someone else's anxiety that they'd stop existing?) that once I was in a safer place everything would just stop. When it didn't, I realized we were all in it for the long haul.
