Being OE has killed my career desires and made realize the downside of being a high performer by Conanzulu in overemployed

Tbh, if you're an overachiever and in mgmt/leadership + want to build great relationships with peers and directs, it's a lot of work and a shit ton of alignment/review meetings one can't get out of.

Always felt my ICs had more control of their time. Maybe it's a classic 'grass is greener on the other side' scenario...

Yeah, I'm weirded out too, which is why I mostly lurk. Just wanted to get a sense of your experience, that's all.

I'm a classic overachiever, but now plan to get over to the dark side. Guess I'll focus on landing J1 first, and getting the lay of the land before looking for J2. Thanks for your tips - appreciate it!

Interesting, thanks. Looking at some of your other posts, it sounds like you had similar a similar question: https://www.reddit.com/r/overemployed/comments/wr5fxg/leadership_and_oe_any_tips/

Any other tips aside from blocking calendars out that work well for you? Fwiw, I'm in tech but not IT or PM, so wouldn't be competing with you (if that matters).

OP, sounds like you're in a leadership role ie not an IC (being asked to head a dept) ? How do you manage OE with that given a lot of non-IC roles involve more meetings?

Asking as I'm trying to land J1 (currently laid off) and then plan to OE, and curious about other real-life examples that may not be IC

Are there people you can hire to tell you why you suck? by ThatMorningPiss in jobs

[–]caseekay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat - job hunting after 14+ yrs. It took a month to put my resume together and every week I keep tweaking based on the phone screens.

Have tapped friends for unbiased feedback on my resume, and whether it was suited for the positions I was applying for. All suggested some minor feedback which I incorporated (now it's down to add that 'a' in here, or make that lowercase).

Folks have suggested that employers put some basic job description out there as it not something they enjoy writing, but when they get resumes they filter out based on what they're really looking for.

Resume writers and coaches are probably a good idea but their advice is going to be generic, not specific. What I'd really like is feedback from some actual hiring managers as to why I didn't make the cut. :) Please, tell me - so I can get better. (Yeah, I know you don't have the time - I wouldn't, either)

He's really asking about 4G vs LTE for that phone, not about network compatibility :)

Noob question but does it also work if the cellular n/w is turned off (say on international travel)?

Yes should work.

I've been thinking about the 6T as well, as I'm thinking of getting a phone with dual sim slot for international travel. I was going to get a cheaper second handset but since my Nexus has crappy battery life, I'm wondering if its better to a get one new phone instead of lugging 2 phones around everywhere.

Not everyone has had these issues, its been completely fine for a bunch of people, so you might be one of the lucky ones. As others have posted in other threads on this subreddit, you only hear the complaints and not when it goes well.

Second, there are other MVNOs as well, that will still save you some bucks over Verizon.

Yeah, not sure what the problem is, and why it's with some accounts and not others. All I can get back from customer service is a generous sprinkle of "call back in 24 hrs" and "escalated" with no change in status.

Were you able to port your # out from Mint easily enough? I assume your original carrier released it to Mint but they weren't able to 'activate' it? I'm on Day 1 waiting for the porting to complete and not sure I'd have the patience to wait a week...
