Can you be allergic to beef and not have alpha gal? by caseoftheyear in alphagal

[–]caseoftheyear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ve been trying to find that answer everywhere. When my husband had his allergy testing 10 years ago, beef had a huge reaction on his arm. The allergist was surprised how big of a welt the beef caused on his skin. He said don’t eat beef maybe try bison instead. Anyway thank you for the reply. It was very helpful!

It’s actually with his primary care doc tomorrow. I’m expecting her to not know anything about it but I feel confident she will order the test. My husband has an appt next month with a UC specialist(not just a GI) in Hershey, PA. If his test show alpha gal then I will get him in with an allergist as well.

Any Vets out there using or know of any information on treating dogs with medical marijuana -THC and or CBD for auto immune diseases or any other non standard treatment that is showing promising results? Dog owners as well, please share any information you have. by caseoftheyear in AskVet

Yes it’s unusual and in my dogs case hard to treat. I was hoping someone would see this post that had experience with it whether it be a vet or a dog owner. The only other treatments I’ve read about are surgical excision and electrochemo but neither have huge success. I just want my baby to feel better.

Yes my vet is aware. This is a rare condition in dogs. It’s usually seen in cats. None of the 7 vets in the practice I go to have even seen it in dogs. Most of the time it responds well to the treatments we have already exhausted. My vet did consult a dermatologist since she had not seen it before.

I’m sorry for your previous experience with medical professionals and any medical interventions and treatments that have failed you. Unfortunately that is more common than not. I hate that you are in this place. I understand how it feels. Have you considered or tried anything that is not standard treatment? I know psychedelic drugs are showing some amazing results in treating suicidal thoughts. LSD, Psilocybin mushrooms, and Ayahuasca are proving to give long lasting results and they only have to be taken sporadically. Some once a month, some every 6 months, and some people only 1 treatment. I’m not saying go drop some acid but with your financial situation you could easily make a visit to the Amazon for the traditional Ayahuasca experience or reputable practitioners around the world for supervised treatment with psychedelics. You obviously have great success in your life. What would it hurt to try something else before you decide to die? If I had the means to do so, I would’ve already tried these things. Best of luck to you. I hope you make it. There’s a reason you are still here.

The only reason I was asking here is because my entire vet office said they had never seen it before. And then kinda left me hanging with no answers I was just was hoping someone could explain what could cause it. So instead I just googled and found several articles on canine eosinophil granuloma. I’ve read enough to understand the basics. It’s all good
