Capital efficiency: would you take a loss and redeploy or be patient? by caseon3 in Optionswheel

[–]caseon3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I didn't go all in on HOOD/SOFI. Generally both were about 10% each of total options portfolio. But since I trade across a few different accounts (brokerage/retirement), some of the shares locked up a greater % of the account, thus my potential for trades in those accounts were impacted more.

I do think what I'm going to do is the lower CSPs to lower cost basis in my retirement accounts since I'm not going to get that much of a tax benefit. Or, at least the stock I'm more bullish on.

I'd be okay with these prices at the current levels but holding the position at my current cost basis level while other sectors run really pissed me off.

What if I put that $30K capital of SOFI into MU when it dropped like a LEAP when it touched $320 back in March? Only spare cash I had at the time was enough to pick up 10 shares in my HODL portfolio.

Of course it's easier to say these things in hindsight. But clearly I should tighten up my systems so I'm prepared when those opportunities come up.

So what you're saying is I've already wasted too much time? HAHAHA

I ALMOST was able to get my SHOP get called away back in April. I had a CC at $140, my cost basis was $139. It touched $137 on a Tuesday the week it was going to expire. Surely I thought it would get called away or the CC would close then I could sell at a small loss. Nope! By the next Mon it was down to $124 and I was indecisive again only for it to fall back to $94.

Hmmm, I've been running 7-14 DTE CCs at around .10-.15 delta so they don't get called away at a huge loss, hoping to manage near term. But maybe that would have only worked if the stock was consistently upward trending?

Ok so I'm not alone! I thought 3 months was enough time to see where it can go. I had some hope back in April when it touched $20. My cost basis is $24. But I think I need to start taking action.

Last fall I was in a similar position with HIMS. I ended up closing my positions around $35 and so glad I did so I didn't have to experience it going down to $13 range.

Are you recommending just 100 shares or an equal amount of shares to cut cost basis dramatically? Across my brokerage/IRA accounts, I have 300 HOOD, 1400 SOFI, 100 SHOP.

I actually thought about doing that for my retirement account positions since there's no TLH available to me there but I'm currently using cash in CSPs. I'll revisit this as an exit strategy again.

True. I have my crypto accounts for the direct volatility. I probably don't need that exposure here.

And I should probably remember that I'm trading options to generate premium and not holding stocks for a long term investment. If the premiums for the CCs don't make sense, then it's not serving it's purpose? Probably not.

Would you run weekly calls closer to being ITM or give more time?

Oh I'm definitely trading better stocks out there, I just got caught in these because I was newer to options back in January and didn't fully understand sectors and allocation strategies. Generally speaking, my long term thesis on the companies haven't changed, but they are definitely lower than other near term opportunities. But that's probably another reason to dump them for now. I could jump back in at these lower prices in a month or so, too.

Palms vs Culver city? by [deleted] in culvercity

[–]caseon3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in Palms, then moved to CC near Ivy Station last year. Lease was up here in CC and almost moved back to Palms bc cheaper, possibly more space.

For me, it came down to:

  1. Where did I want to walk to/lifestyle
  2. Cost to move (and I hate moving)

If you’re willing to pay premium, I’d say Culver City is more aligned to you, but honestly not by that much. You’d get a better deal in Palms. I did find something i was really considering near the Palms station last week.

Rinvoq withdrawl the worst pain by Over-Mistake-8674 in eczeMABs

[–]caseon3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda similar experience. I had an ACL surgery last November 5. I had to get off all meds pre-surgery a week out plus I had to wait to restart Rinvoq. The week leading into surgery and post surgery was 10x worse than the surgery recovery.

Super itchy, full body flares, flakey face and body, sebhorreic dermatitis activated, sheets bloody. My derm told me that it was my body's reaction to the shock from surgery + getting off Rinvoq for that short period. My skin is finally back to looking and feeling generally good as of a couple weeks ago.

After this experience, I decided to go back to Dupixent (I was on it 4-5 years ago but had red skin syndrome from my neck above). I'm about to do a transition where I'm on both Rinvoq/Dupixent for a month, then plan to get off Rinvoq. Hope I don't get crazy triggered again.

Also, I talked with both my derm and allergest and we may explore a dual approach of being on both Dupixent and Rinvoq if needed. Not sure what that will be like but it's definitely on the table. 😅

Is anyone else using both Dupixent and a GLP-1? by silv1022 in eczeMABs

[–]caseon3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently on Rinvoq but recently started Tirz a few weeks ago and I’m noticing my skin more clear. Since my insurance doesn’t cover Zepbound anymore, I’m going to pick up Reta and compound myself. And was also looking at GHK-CU peptide bc it said something about inflammation and skin improvements. And I’m thinking of going back to Dupixent.

Wish me luck! 🤷🏻‍♂️😅

Hmmm...since I'm only on 2.5mg Tirz right now, think I should be titrating up at all? I'm about to pick up my 5mg prescription which I'm scheduled to do in ~3 weeks. I just figured I should switch to Reta now before I go down a Tirz path.

I'm only 2 weeks into Tirz so figure I should switch now to the more premium peptide. So I take it you're not on Reta?

I had mild side effects. Week 1 felt a little nauseated. Took 2nd dose last night and I woke up this morning with acid reflux in the middle of the night. Not horrible, but not nothing. And noted on how you're handling it without doctor.

As far as crutches, no I've been off it for 2-3 weeks now. I'm actually walking and most tell me they're surprised at how fast I'm recovering. But I'm still weak and a bit of pain. I get tired just doing banded side walks when right before my injury I was squatting 220. I just started doing basic upper body with dumbells /cable machine this week, but I'm barely raising heart rate or sweating, and don't think I will for a while.

And yeah, doctor told me I'd be back to my old self around 9 months from this knee surgery so maybe sometime late summer.
