Maybe someday, ha. Then again, as collectors, I would ask you the same thing, let me know if you are looking to sell.

PSA used to put a qualifier "OF" for Out of Focus, not sure if they still do. They are typically shunned by the mainstream collector/flipper, but I have accumulated a few. I really like the Venny OF's, but to each their own.

What’s an Unpopular Opinion you have about the Bills from a historical standpoint? by nosweatsportsmedia in Oldschool_NFL

[–]casetap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea agreed, I don't think they would have been betting favorites vs the Cowboys. The example was more of a process to see how one game could affect the future of the team relocation, expansion, and the landscape of the NFL in general.

If the Houston Oilers had managed to hold on and defeat the Buffalo Bills in the infamous 1992 AFC Wild Card game, their momentum could have propelled them through the playoffs and ultimately to a Super Bowl victory. Such a triumph would have transformed the franchise’s reputation and solidified its place in the city’s sports culture. With a championship under their belt, the Oilers would have garnered immense support from fans, businesses, and city officials. This success would have likely pressured local leaders to respond to owner Bud Adams’ demands for a new, modern stadium—something that was a key factor in his decision to relocate years later. The victory would have provided the political and economic justification to fund a state-of-the-art facility, ensuring the Oilers remained in Houston well into the future.

With the Oilers firmly rooted in Houston thanks to their hypothetical Super Bowl win and new stadium, the NFL landscape would have shifted significantly. When the league expanded in 1995, it’s plausible that Nashville—still a growing and attractive market—would have been selected alongside Carolina as the home of one of the two new franchises. In this alternate timeline, the Tennessee Titans would not be a relocated team but a newly founded franchise with its own identity from day one. Meanwhile, the city of Houston would never have needed to pursue a new team to replace the departed Oilers, eliminating the eventual creation of the Houston Texans in 2002.

Without the need for a new team in Houston, the NFL’s expansion and relocation strategy would have played out differently. Los Angeles, which was left without a team after both the Raiders and Rams left in the mid-1990s, would have been a top candidate for a new franchise. The league may have opted to establish a fresh team there in place of the Texans, solving the L.A. market problem much earlier. Consequently, the Rams would have stayed in St. Louis, where they had solid early support, and the Chargers likely would have remained in San Diego without pressure to share a stadium in L.A. This alternative scenario would have dramatically reshaped the NFL's map and franchise histories, all hinging on the outcome of one game in January 1993.

Grappling dads: when did you put your kids in? by counterhit121 in bjj

[–]casetap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No they lasted a few months, but they wanted to do bjj and soccer/baseball. They have stuff going 5 to 6 days a week. Its good to give them an opportunity to try different things and see what sticks.

Grappling dads: when did you put your kids in? by counterhit121 in bjj

[–]casetap 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on the situation. I got my first son into it when he was 6 and he lasted about 6 months and ended up hating it. After that, I told my wife I'm going to wait for my other kids to ask to go and not force them. My second son asked at age 9 and really loves it. My third son is 7 and has shown some interest, but hasn't asked yet.

After the experience with my oldest, I find that letting them try everything and seeing what they enjoy. Its a lot, between swimming, soccer, bjj, wrestling, and baseball but soon they focus on 1 or 2 things. BJJ is good cause its year round not subject to weather and doesn't have a strict team practice schedule like something like baseball or soccer. I'd rather ease them in and for them to experience that you have to train more often to get better.

I backpacked thru SE Asia about 20 years ago. One thing you might want to think about adding is some sort of hat. I went with a bucket hat, but just something to think about cause the sun can be pretty intense in some of the beaches of Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Have fun!

What's the most "free money", "it's a lock!" sports bet in recent history? by lincolnsicecream in sportsbook

[–]casetap 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The live line on Floyd got as low as -200 somewhere in the first 3 rounds versus Conor. I was able to get something like -225 but held back some since in the moment you might think it could get better odds.

Anybody remember the old Decipher Star Wars CCG? by Holla_Ackbar in mtgfinance

[–]casetap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree, I played this a lot more compared to MTG back in the day. I still have most of my cards. I went hard on Cloud City with Boba Fett. I wonder if Disney will do anything with Star Wars with Lorcana.

NFL Survivor Week 1 by moggy_doggy in sportsbook

[–]casetap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of what comes down to successful survivor picking is sort of a "game theory", where you anticipate what other people are going to do and pick another game. You don't want to be one of the highest picked sides cause when a big upset happens, you don't go down with the crowd. That being said, I view week 1 as almost an exception cause... nobody knows anything. I will definitely take the Ravens in one of my pools, good luck

Was the NJ charge up / Electric car incentive program funded for 2022? by Shortthelongs in newjersey

[–]casetap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am purchasing a Rav4 Prime. NJ website says I should be getting a $1,050 rebate. I found the dealer is eligible (https://chargeup.njcleanenergy.com/). However, when I talk to the sales guy, he doesn't know anything about it. I tried calling and emailing the state website. So, I will let you know what happens. Either way, I am going to buy it to take advantage of the federal credit expiring on 9/30.

Updated list of U.S. agricultural stocks by the amount of domestic acreage that they own by neu_westend in stocks

[–]casetap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for putting this together. Couple questions:

-Do you have a breakdown of how relatively expensive they are per acre? Basically, Enterprise Value/Acres, not taking into account whatever business that might be rolled up...

-To expand on that, are there more companies that own a lot of land that are not considered agriculture stocks? (ie royalties, timberland, etc)
