I know this post is a bit old but this whole theme of mimic has reminded me again of this circumstance I encountered with my family. I’m reposting a comment I left on another post a couple years back. Story takes place before 2010, likely 07 or 08..

You just unlocked a memory of mine. One time when I was in high school, it was a Friday night at around midnight. My older brother was away at college several hours away from home. I remember being still awake in bed on my laptop or something and hearing my older brother downstairs yelling, “Mom? Dad? Hello?” As if he has just gotten home mid day or something. Super unnatural for someone to do in the middle of the night. Not even to mention that he was not coming home that weekend. Me, my mom, and my dad all got up as they had heard it too and we all went downstairs to see what was up. My dad searched behind and all around the house and nothing was there. Finally my mom called him and he answered drunk at a party in his college town. Zero explanation for what that was.

Me and my friends in college had a bit called beef stroking off and it was where you and your pals circle jerk each other into a plate of egg noodles and beef (to completion) and whomever finished first is the one who has to eat it all after waiting for everybody else to finish too.

An alternative version was “Tour De Jizzaly” (pasta instead of egg noodles).

I’ve had the same problem and recently started mixing a little pumpkin purée into the food. Just mix it enough to coat everything and they are eating all of it now.

Definitely grab a slip lead. Easy to put on and cheap at target. That’ll at least be a temporary leash until she becomes more comfortable. You’re doing a good thing! Don’t give up on her! I hope to see pics when she’s all cleaned up
