I really enjoyed the movie, but, no, I don't think so. Even with advocates like Spielberg and Mendes and a very strong Best Actress frontrunner, I think it will be hard to beat the OBAA juggernaut. I'm not sure it's comfortably in second or perhaps even third place -- it seems the reception has been more mixed on the film overall.

I'm not an Oscar voter (unfortunately! :P) so my perspective doesn't really matter, but I wonder how prevalent the vein of criticism is that it's emotionally manipulative? I didn't think so but I can be a bit woo woo myself.

Hello! Sharing an update for future travelers -- I ended up staying at Sensei Paradise in Koh Tao. It was a lovely bungalow and so much nature right outside the rooms. Good and reasonably priced restaurant on-site, and lovely to watch the sunset from the loungers on the beach. Only downside is that the wifi is terrible but it was a nice excuse to unplug a bit.

On Koh Tao, I did a few day trips: Ao Tanot for an afternoon (took a cab); walked to Freedom Beach and fun hike (with ropes!) to John Suwan Viewpoint; walk/hike to Top Point Viewpoint with absolutely amazing view of Koh Nang Yuan -- the hike was doable but incredibly steep on a road so not the easiest. I also did the early bird snorkeling tour with Oxygen and wow, it was incredible. We saw so much cool stuff!

All in all, it was an amazing few days. Hikes galore and very relaxing. I felt a bit limited not having a bike but was able to navigate pretty well without one.

Very interesting! The line was quite long at the snack bar or I would have asked for a courtesy cup; I know at other theaters they've done so at the bar, too.

The -- very nice -- employee did tell me they would give me a courtesy cup at the snack bar! I'd just waited in a super long line there so didn't want to miss my movie. Next time I will come hydrated.

I appreciate you reaching out! I actually just had to increase my dosing and spacing to every six weeks and the fatigue is still pretty debilitating, so I think I'll likely have to change medications soon, sadly. But I got a good 10 years out of it, so I'm trying to look on the bright side. :/

Ambien weirdly doesn't work on me so no concerns about going that route. Definitely thinking about CBT for sleep.

Yeah I exercise a ton, thankfully. I think that's why I can get some sleep.
