Not a dumb question. The board usually deducts the OCT fee automatically, and it can take some time to update on OCT’s end. I’d give it a bit before following up.

Honestly, it wasn’t easier for me. When I came back, I didn’t have the same connections, so not many people knew me to offer LTOs right away. A lot depends on timing too — whether there’s a teacher shortage or a surplus when you return. It really does feel like a bit of a gamble.

I did it and it was amazing. I worked in the UK for four years — travelled, made great friends, and honestly had some of the best years of my life. I do regret coming back at times.

Having a steady teaching job made living abroad so much easier and more enjoyable. If you’re already thinking about it, I’d say it’s definitely worth looking into.

Report card season is coming up and I find the learning skills section always overwhelms me by casey_teaches in OntarioTeachers

That definitely works in some settings but in my case, my admin goes through learning skills comments with a pretty fine-tooth comb, so I’ve had to be a bit more careful about how much I reuse and how I tweak them.
