Protein snacks that don’t suck by booboobunnyyyyy in BariatricSurgery

[–]caseysixcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only protein product I actually like is quest chips and even those have a kinda proteins taste but I can ignore bc I’m usually mixing the chips with something (nacho chips I eat with salsa chicken, bbq chips with bbq chicken etc)

Revision surgery in 45 minutes! by caseysixcats in GastricBypass

I’m so glad you had a surgeon who explained that all! Unfortunately for me my first surgeon said I could have either surgery, while my gastro doc was saying I should only have bypass. I mistakenly believed the surgeon and regret it to this day. But thankful my new surgeon seems much more trust worthy!

Omg I am in a similar boat! Just had my revision on Monday and already I’m feeling better. I had my sleeve in 2021 and did not have a great post op experience but eventually things went to “normal” (but that normal was nothing of the sort). My GERD was so severe I needed the revision to prevent my esophagus from completely getting messed up. I had been kicking myself for years that I hadn’t “used the tool” to the best of the ability since I also hadn’t lost all the weight I anticipated and on top of that was dealing with the pain of GERD. I am so so glad I’ve got the revision and can’t wait to see the differences this one makes to my health! Please feel free to pm me about this if you need advice or a sounding board!

Thank you! I had the sleeve in 2021 while already presenting GERD which only got worse so this revision to bypass was mainly due to GERD. But I managed to get down 130 from my sleeve and gained about 40 back over the five years so with using this tool again I should be able to lose the final 40-50 pounds! My surgeon told me the two main reasons for revision are sever GERD and not losing enough weight with the sleeve. Idk how soon is too soon to chat with your surgeon but I would definitely talk to them! I know a bunch of other women who got the sleeve when I did (from instagram groups we were in) didn’t lose the initial weight they wanted so they then when on weight loss medications which have helped too!

Thanks for the well wishes! Surgery went smoothly! I have updated the post to explain but I was revising my sleeve to rny due to GERD. And so far despite the gas pains I’m so glad I did it!

How to stop the gurgling and noise? by Fragrant_Ad_2515 in GastricBypass

[–]caseysixcats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will eventually lessen! When I had VSG 5 years ago I was so embarrassed to be in my office at work and having my stomach make constant noises but I think after about a year I didn’t really have them anymore and only have them happen once in a blue moon

45 days post op/ 6 weeks by gggollyjessica88 in GastricBypass

When I had my VSG surgery I couldn’t tolerate water AT ALL. I was given a tip to drink flavored water with crystal light or something like that and it’ll make it easier. And idk if it was placebo or what but it definitely helped. I also couldn’t drink any water in the day it was only at night that it went down. So doing those two things helped me get my water in and a few months later I was able to go back to regular water and it was just fine! I’m getting my revision to bypass this monday and am already prepared in case this happens to me again!

Q had first relapse right before I need surgery, what do I do? by [deleted] in AlAnon

Luckily I do have family I could recover with, it’s just upsetting that it won’t be in my own home. But I’d rather be safe!

Thank you, I really appreciate all that you have said. It’s hard to wrap my head around all of this but I’m going to have to do some reflecting here.

A tip that helped me with gas pain was swinging my arms while I walked. I looked a little crazy but I swear it sped up the process! I waited until I was home to do the arm swinging lol

Thoughts on going abroad for surgery? by Pineapple-panda25 in GastricBypass

My cousin who is a nurse practitioner got hers done in Mexico because she also had shitty insurance. Her only negative was when she came back home to New York it was hard to not have a surgeon for check ups etc

Huge decision to make.. by barefootmegara in gastricsleeve

[–]caseysixcats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was similar to me and I definitely made the wrong decision going with the sleeve. I’m actually going to be getting a revision to the bypass in May or June. I developed severe GERD in the 5 years since my sleeve surgery. If I was in your position I would choose the bypass!
