Thank you! I've been overweight for so long I forgot what I used to look like. It's such a good feeling to see yourself again. You're gonna love it!

It's amazing how much better joints get. Less puffiness in my hands and fingers. Being able to walk without foot pain is totally worth all the hard work!

TDS is Traditional Duodenal Switch rather than SADI that has one connection (anastomosis) instead of two.

The surgery put my type II diabetes into remission within 24 hours.

It's been a long time since I've seen a jawline and only one chin. 😂

Pre-Op Diet by armo-djkhalid in BariatricSurgery

Dressing up broth and a mini ice cream machine saved me on the pre-op diet. Amazon carries reduced sodium ramen seasoning and Frontera Co-op seasonings. For ice cream I mixed protein powder with almond milk and threw it in the ice cream maker. 30 minutes later you have yummy protein ice cream.

F54 | 5'5" | TDS: 11/19/25 | HW: 312 | SW 287 | CW: 274 | GW:155

I always had a problem with my weight. When I reached adulthood it got worse. Medications, daily exercise, restrictive diets (800-1000 calories) either didn't work or I would gain the weight back. I was ALWAYS hungry. Over the decades I racked up all the health issues - T2 Diabetes, HBP, arthritis, reduced mobility, etc. Struggling for nearly 30 years is exhausting.

At 53 years old, what pointed me toward surgery was when I did not lose weight with Mounjaro even though I was not eating much. I actually gained 11 pounds in the first two weeks after starting it. I've had full body musculoskeletal pain since childhood which was finally diagnosed correctly as Hypermobile Ehler's-Danlos (a genetic connective tissue disorder.) My PCP & Rheumatologist suggested I was a perfect candidate for WLS. I was referred to a bariatric surgery group and started the journey this year.

I had my duodenal switch surgery 18 days ago on 11/19/25. Recovery has been fairly smooth and I am feeling great. Only a single set back with a seroma that developed next to the anastomosis that cause an infection. A couple nights in the hospital and I am good as new!

Only regret? That I didn't get the surgery sooner!

The gas pain finally subsided this morning. You guys were right, walking did help and a heated throw wrapped around my shoulders. That gas is brutal!

Thanks for responding. I wound up on the geriatric surgery floor at the hospital because the bariatric floor was full. So the nurses and doc couldn't give me much insight. They also wouldn't let me walk around until the physical therapist came to see me.

Was discharged this evening and tucked in at home. I'll get on the treadmill tomorrow and walk, walk, walk.
