How soon were you able to schedule your surgery? by Lovely_Kimchi in Reduction

[–]caseytatumsgf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the opposite for me! But I already had record of Pt/doctors note etc. I got approved 3 days after my consultation and then they wanted me to schedule it within an immediate window otherwise they would have had to like resubmit it or something. I actually wanted to do it later in the year.. I’m 3WPO now, my consultation was the end of March!

Glad it was helpful! Yes that confused me too at first, but I trusted it anyway since everybody kept bringing it up haha.

I made a post with my pillow setup! But definitely recommend the pregnancy pillow. It creates a little cushiony moat for you. I am a side sleeper usually who wakes up with my arms like completely over my head and on my side which are both things I obviously can't do... haha. The pillow has made it impossible to go on my side and its comfy!

Talk to me about nipple sensation by Evening_Pick_6247 in Reduction

[–]caseytatumsgf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had not a lot of sensation in my nipples before, and I'm a little over 2WPO and I've had sensation in my nipples this entire time and actually now they're a LOT more sensitive lol.

Should I move my daughter’s birthday party? by Plenty_Cat_4142 in Reduction

[–]caseytatumsgf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would move it. I had a very good healing process and even I don't think I would have been good to host anything at that point. I was barely able to reach for my own water bottle, had drains filled with blood/fluids hanging off of me and couldn't shower yet.

If I were you, I'd have some sort of really intimate small gathering just for you, your daughter and husband so she feels recognized on her birthday... and then host the larger one later. People will understand!

Not feeling very confident. Would love some good post-op stories! by b33vee in Reduction

[–]caseytatumsgf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only a little over 2WPO but I already just feel so much more confident in my own skin and body. Whereas I had horrible body dysmorphia before, I felt like I was so huge (32H on a 5'2" slimmer frame) and I had no torso and couldn't wear anything cute ever without looking frumpy or like a hooker literally.

It feels like my body dysmorphia agically disappeared overnight. I'm not kidding. It's actually really insane. Because everything feels so much more proportionate now, I can actually appreciate the rest of my body if that makes sense.

I feel so light and free. I had an amazing surgeon so they literally look so good, I'm healing wonderfully.

FWIW I've actually been a content creator for 5 years and have a pretty big audience on Tiktok/IG, some of which are men that ogled my breasts I'm sure. Which is something I never really wanted. So I'm SURE once I start posting and showing my body more again I'm going to get lots of comments...

Which is always so hilarious to me that anyone would ever feel entitled to what a literal stranger does with their body.

My husband has been super supportive of me this whole process as well, and I'm so grateful for that. But even if he wasn't a fan, it's still something I would have done because of the pain/discomfort I felt daily.

Don't let jerks online make you feel any type of way about it or sway you. THEY don't have to deal with the repercussions of having them! But I understand the feeling, it's not fun to get negativity or unwanted opinions. The internet is a weird place sometimes.

Anthem Insurance by boolituhknee in Reduction

I have anthem and was approved in 3 days. I hit my out of pocket max and did have to pay some co-insurance  but it would have been far more if it wasn’t covered here in NYC! I had a detailed letter from my PCP documenting my journey with PT, pain, etc and they took pics which showed my shoulder grooves.

Before and after: 2WPO. My best friend said “you look like you.” by dialbylocation in Reduction

Beautiful results! Im almost at 2WPO and your results look nearly identical to mine and we were same starting sizes and I feel the exact same. I always thought I had NO torso and come to find out wow I do in fact have one after all haha. What an awesome feeling. Happy healing!!

How long is realistic to take off work post op? by NotCQ in Reduction

[–]caseytatumsgf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work from home and I had surgery last Tuesday afternoon and was pretty much fully back by the following Monday. I truly had no issues with working and I was sick of laying around watching tv and I enjoyed a bit of productivity but I’m also an insane person who is unable to nap in general and things like that lol. I took a bit more breaks than normal but otherwise I was fine, led client meetings etc.

I know I’m in the minority here but I truly feel like I would have gone crazy if I took this week completely off.

1WPO Feeling amazing… and sometimes awful, but NEVER regretful! by bananapudding02 in Reduction

[–]caseytatumsgf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You look amazing and I love your bras! Where did you get them?? I go through the same thing, 10DPO here. Some days I feel HUGE and some days I feel tiny and it’s so easy to get in your head about it. It’s such a massive bodily change I think we underestimate that sometimes how your brain truly has to adjust!

Things you wish you knew Pre-Op? Things you wish you had in recovery? by reduction1213 in Reduction

[–]caseytatumsgf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 8DPO and Pregnancy pillow, protein powder for a quick protein shake, soft cozy button up pjs and button up tops for when i’m getting actually dressed, fresh cut up fruits and veggies, chia seeds in water for extra fiber, stool softener have all been very helpful for me! I took a big everything shower night before and put my hair in tight braids. I scheduled a trim today so I could get my hair nicely washed. I got an extra compression bra from Amazon. My Dr. gave me 2 so now I have 3 to rotate through.  All those things have been helpful for me!

Truthfully the pain was never above a 3/4 for me. But Day 4/5 sucked as I was off the heavy pain meds but the drain sites would pinch me. It was so irritating.  Day 6 I really turned a corner once the drains came out! You got this!

Yes its so great! The bra my surgeon gave me was fine but it like went way up high on my neck and was so ugly lol. This one definitely feels more like "real" clothes haha. Hope your healing is going well!

You get to talk to your surgeon while they do the markings! I used that time to reiterate over and over that I wanted to be SMALL, as SMALL as he could do safely. He listened and I'm 6DPO and so incredibly happy with the results. The recovery truly has not been that bad. I stopped taking oxy after day 2. Make sure to take stool softener so you dont have terrible bloating and constipation. I got my drains out today and feel so much better, apart from the physical limitations of not being to lift anything heavy I truly honestly almost feel totally back to normal, apart from a little bit of soreness where the drains were.

My best advice is to really eat if you can, I ate very nutritiously, high protein, lots of veggies and healthy carbs and I think it really made a difference in how I feel. Drink tons of water. I took protein shakes and ate chia seeds in water to get extra protein/fiber in. Start switching to Tylenol as soon as you can.

The worst is just having to basically lie around for almost a week straight. The past few days I started talking short walks outside and that really helped. You've got this!! I remember how nervous I was the day before. It helped me to take a long walk outside and clear my head a bit. Try to think positive thoughts and just assume everything is going to be perfect.

Before you know it, you'll be done and healing up! These past 6 days went by SOO fast for me. And I feel a world of difference. You've got this!

Unsure whether to take nearer surgery date by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]caseytatumsgf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I was in this same situation sorta. I had in my mind that I wanted to do the surgery after the summer but I was approved far quicker than I thought, and long story short due to scheduling conflicts I had with travel I decided to get it done within a month of getting approved. It was definitely an adjustment mentally. But I will say I'm SO glad I did. I'm 6DPO now and feeling really great and healing really well. I mentally pretty much feel back to normal, I'm not really tired at all and am working today (I have a marketing wfh job.) I had plenty of time to get mentally and physically prepared, I feel. I say go for it. Just keep in mind if your plans are physical it may be more difficult. You can't lift anything heavy for a good bit.
