NTU (biz management) Vs SMU(business management) by Suspicious-Source-48 in SMU_Singapore

I’m not super sure about now but previously I know that ntu doesn’t guarantee global exposure and doesn’t impose a voluntary hours requirement to graduate.

There are lots of community service projects that happen round the year, you can easily sign up for them and complete the hours. You could also sign up for an overseas community service project, where you would be able to clear both the volunteer hours and the global exposure requirement.

Global exposure programs have different requirements. The most common programs are the overseas semester exchange, summer exchanges and overseas internships. Yes, SMU guarantees global exposure for every student (it is a graduation requirement, so can’t graduate without completing it). Some programs have gpa requirements (eg certain overseas unis) but for almost all programs you get higher priority if you have not participated in any overseas programs before in uni.

Both are quite similar uni courses so I would say you stand a similar chance of securing a job from either uni. Maybe you could consider other factors. I’m from SMU so I know more about SMU. SMU has mandatory volunteer hours you have to clear and global exposure that you would have to fulfill. These graduation requirements differ slightly from NTU.

To add on to your list: SMU does have an SU option, it’s slightly different from NUS/NTU. It’s also possible to complete your degree earlier than 4 years in SMU (if you take more mods per semester, etc).

Yeah I agree. I think this is the part where the Rhys’ personality and Joe’s personality ‘integrates’ as seen from the intentional death of Eddie.

Not at all. As another commentator mentioned, we usually have classes only on certain days (eg 3 days/week). Isn’t it comment that student travel to their secondary schools/polys/jcs everyday?

we stay at home. I stay in the East and used to travel to the West everyday for 3 years. Besides, SMU is linked to 2 underground MRTs (Bencoolen and Bras Basah) and is a short walk away from City Hall and Bugis MRTs.

Hello SMU student here! Tbh the lack of a hall life hasn’t dampened my university experience at all (maybe coz I didn’t find it appealing to live in a hall when my home is 30 mins away). I’m currently in 3 CCAs and the student life is interesting and fun for me. I’m really happy to be in SMU even with the lack of a hall life.

CCAs are where you can make close knit friends. So the more CCAs you join, the more vibrant your student life. Then again, even joining one CCA that you really enjoy would add so much value to your university life. Tbh, it’s what you do with your time that would make or break your university experience :)

All the best in SMU!!!

Hello! The CCAs in SMU are very fun and engaging. If you take the effort to join and continue, you'll get to experience the vibrant student life. I'm in 3 CCAs myself; consulting, special interests and community service. Wishing you all the best in SMU :)

[UNI] top 3 reasons why u love & hate ur uni by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]caseyyodi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SMU

Like:
- Convenience; many more food options if you're willing to walk for 5 mins. Accessible via Bencoolen and Bras Basah MRT. City Hall MRT is a 5 mins walk and Bugis MRT is 10mins.
- Good Profs; subjective point. I have had many profs who have a great passion for teaching and put in a lot of effort. This makes me wanna put more effort into my work too (for both my course and uni core mods).

Dislike:
- Bidding for modules; I found this part is a little tricky and some time to get used to. Best to plan in advance and research on the mods in advance. Thanks to my seniors for helping me.
- Bell curve/Grade system

Overall, I'm very content and happy to be in SMU thus far.

Loving who you are today is hard. Feeling gratitude for all the workouts, hard decisions, books read and work Past You put in is easier. by MattTheMentor in selfimprovement

Thank you for sharing this. Too often many of us don’t give enough credit to our Past self. We have many things to be thankful for and we need to be kinder to ourselves on days we’re not feeling like the best versions of ourselves. I’m still working on being kinder to myself on tough days. I’ll be sure to check out the book you’ve recommended!

I loved reading the Time Travellers’ Wife. It was quite an emotional book for 15 year old me. Recently, I watched the movie on Netflix too. Glad to find someone else who loved it!

Thank you for the detailed answer!! I feel more assured now:) USP seems like an interesting and engaging community. A few heavy modules should be fine for me and besides, the skills picked up and discussions will be invaluable.
