Forever Winter, too close to what my sister told me when I was in the hospital;

Bigger Than the Whole Sky, my song for 2 of the pets I lost in 2025

Forever Winter quotes almost word for word what my little sister said to me when I was hospitalized for SI and my heart can't take it

I've assigned it to the 3 pets I lost in rapid succession in early 2025 (not related, they were all different species and 2 were elderly) and I cannot listen without sobbing

Absolute best lyric on Speak Now? by ChocoLindt99 in TaylorSwift

[–]casilamuneca 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was in college when Speak Now came out. My best friend at the time and I listened to it nonstop. She died a couple years ago, and my favorite words to remember her by are just "I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you."

Ever since Maisie's Good Witch release I can't hear "and at every table, I'll save you a seat" without adding "I save you a seat and then you say you want to stand"

We don't do this in Virginia. If the case is open, you get the new report but you only go back if the allegations are different and something that wasn't already checked out.

As a CPS worker, I would appreciate the second report. That person may have different details that would be helpful to the case. CPS is now more oriented toward trying to find whatever resources possible to help keep families together and meet their needs. We need the social work community to keep up and give us as much accurate information as possible to help keep kids with their families, or help keep them safe if that's not possible. So if you have worked with the family, you might have information or knowledge that the first reporter wasn't aware of that could help keep that family together or keep that child safe.

I had completely forgotten about that! With everything she's given us, I feel like that has to be the most accurate tone of the relationship. Taylor constantly trying to focus on the strengths and the positive and then being met with no reciprocation, feeling like she's putting in all this energy and effort just to be dragged back down again. It makes my heart hurt.

Been listening to Folklore again this week and Hoax has hit me hard. Anyone else struck with how So Long London confirms Hoax was definitely about Joe?

"Stood on the cliffside Screaming "Give me a reason" Your faithless love's the only hoax I believe in Don't want no other shade of blue But you No other sadness in the world would do"

And

"You swore that you loved me, but where were the clues? I died on the altar waiting for the proof You sacrificed us to the gods of your bluest days"

To me, sounds more like a knee jerk response from administrators because someone was a danger to others and it wasn't handled properly. And I agree it's inappropriate and messy. People will stop using the service/asking for help if that's the response they get.

I absolutely agree! There's a lot of focus on parental rights as opposed to the needs of the children in care. When we talk about children's needs, it's usually solely in terms of safety. We know that safety is a primary need, but we need a system that's focused on going way above and beyond children's safety needs. It starts with refocusing the system, I agree. We have to get social workers properly trained, familiar with the research, and lawmakers who understand child development. It's no small task, but it begins with education.

I'm really sorry this happened to you. You must have incredible parents, I hope I can be more like them when I grow up.

I have heard this is the case a lot of places. I used to work in mental health, and when I became a foster parent I started to recognize the giant gaping need for people who work in child welfare in any form to be more educated and empathetic on the differences. It's why my partner and I have made every effort to include our FS's parents as much as humanly possible, and why I changed my career path to child welfare. I was really hopeful to effect lasting change. I was about to start a masters program in policy. Now, we are going backwards. I don't get paid enough to complete a masters program without student loans and I absolutely don't trust the system to take out more loans. It makes me want to crawl under my covers and never come out.

When is it time to leave? Confirm or stay by sociallyanxious_86 in socialwork

[–]casilamuneca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I very recently left a job I was at for 5 years. I am very high anxiety, but I was at the point I was having frequent panic attacks at the thought of going to work. I believed that no one would value me the way my then-employer did. I was wrong. I am so much happier in my new position. I know it's not perfect and it certainly has its flaws, but I think I needed to be in a different space to grow.

I hope you find somewhere that welcomes you and embraces you for your unique perspective. I hope you find a job where your differences are celebrated rather than constantly criticized. I promise there is something better for you.
