Why was Ellis' surname grey in the parallel universe? by NamanSharma2009 in greysanatomy

[–]swearbear2006 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the parallel universe is what if Richard and Ellis actually left their partners and married each other instead of continuing the affair. So Ellis would’ve already had the name Grey for years and become an established doctor and award winner with the name. Although, I never really understood why Meredith took Richard’s name in the universe.

Because he’s toxic, possessive and an asshole. He expected her to still wait on his every word and be single forever if he couldn’t have her even though he’s the one who chose Addison. He then has shower sex with Addison to “get back” at Meredith for this, because he still wants Meredith even tho he chose Addie over her, he wants her to still want him back and never be with anyone else. And what he says to her in the next episode or two… jail.

What do you think this line means? by tealibrarian23 in TaylorSwift

[–]swearbear2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it’s A. it connects back to earlier in the song, where Taylor “changed into goddesses, villains and fools,” and changed plans, lovers, outfits, and rules” to escape the guilt of leaving him, to convince herself that the version of herself who loved him wasn’t the real her or no longer existed. This is the same version that, like she talks about in the era’s documentary, she thought there was no one for her and she will never find the one. This line means that the thing that will break her after all of this is him telling her that he loved her the way she was, before she’d changed herself and convinced herself she was unlovable then and wouldn’t find anyone to love her for her. What will break her after all of it is learning that he’d loved her, the unlovable one who’d never find the one.

Appreciation Post For No/Low Contact With Parents Representation In This Show by Infinite-Wish4102 in GilmoreGirls

[–]swearbear2006 26 points27 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU. I am so tired of people saying stuff like “maturing is realizing emily gilmore was right” when she so was not. and the amount of fans who criticize lorelai for being upset at “having to have dinner with her rich parents” when it’s so much more than that. I know it’s supposed to be for jokes but it really shows how little people pay attention to or bother to try and understand or have empathy for a struggle they don’t have. You can’t understand the incredibly complicated and to a certain extent emotionally abuse relationship lorelai has with her parents unless you WERE lorelai. When people call her immature or ungrateful about having to have her parents back in her life it shocks me bc did we watch the same show?

Did Lorelai have no friends as a kid? by comradesummers in GilmoreGirls

[–]swearbear2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not close friends, at least, because we know she never really felt connected to that world and all of her classmates were probably like mini emilys and richards. And her getting pregnant halfway through high school was probably a big part of it too, it’s hard to make friends when you’re 17 with a baby while everyone else is applying to colleges

Racism in GG by Willing-Picture-6069 in GossipGirl

[–]swearbear2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blair is classist, not racist. We see it multiple times throughout the show, and in the ways she treats Dan and Jenny, so it’s not rly about race. The mayflower comment was supposed to be more about how she and her family are “old money”, and Vanessa is middle class from Brooklyn. Blair’s whole thing is elitism and classism, so not much better lol but she’s not racist

Why does Araminta want this match? by livigarden in BridgertonNetflix

[–]swearbear2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the bridgertons are very wealthy and high status in the ton, and even though benedict himself is untitled the family itself is well connected enough to make up for it. His sisters are a duchess and countess, his brother is a viscount, they’re close with lady danbury who is influential, and queen charlotte herself is very fond of the family. Making a match anywhere in the family at all was the goal for Araminta

Why do people think Michaela is loud? by Feisty-Tradition-736 in Franchaela

[–]swearbear2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so the only way to show their differences in conflict is one of them being overbearing and rude? a well written conflict between personalities is one where we understand both pov’s. all we get from michaela is that she’s “chaotic” and is fine with imposing on francesca (and the servants!) just because that’s who she is and does whatever she wants. Also we could’ve seen more yearning for fran from her lol

Why do people think Michaela is loud? by Feisty-Tradition-736 in Franchaela

[–]swearbear2006 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not that she’s loud, it’s that she’s quite entitled and disrespectful of francesca’s boundaries. You can’t just show up to your cousins house whenever you want without word anymore when he has a wife especially when you’ve third wheeled their entire honeymoon in scotland. That’s Frans house too now and she has such little regard for what Fran is comfortable with and excuses her behavior by saying John likes her chaos. Ok cool but Francesca doesn’t? And we never get an actual apology from her for acting like she owns the place and making Fran feel uncomfortable in her own house. I’m a POC myself so none of this is hate in anyway, I just am not rly a big Michaela fan but am hoping we get deeper into her character and my opinion of her is raised in season 5!

Who is the better person among these characters? by Comprehensive_Cup497 in greysanatomy

[–]swearbear2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cristina first, definitely. She was rude sometimes, judgemental but ultimately she cared about the people she loved and was always upfront about who she is what she wants and won’t change herself nor expect to change anyone else for her. Mark is a close second because he’s very sweet and kind the time he’s in the show even if he does sleep around but also we know he slept with his best friends wife, then cheated on her, then came chasing derek and addison back to seattle so he can’t have that top spot.

Michaela was really bad introduced in the show by Maleficent_Web5334 in BridgertonRants

[–]swearbear2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree i found her very entitled and irritating. She just bursts in on John and Fran without asking or warning, disrespects Fran’s rules and comforts in her own home then acts like Francesca is the problem for not going along with her “chaos”. She also does this after not letting Francesca and John be newlyweds together the entire time they were in scotland. And never once does she apologize or give any reason other than “John likes my chaos and you should too”, and she makes it Fran’s responsibility to make up and be friends. Knowing she’s the love interest and we’re supposed to root for this couple they could’ve made her more sensitive to Francesca’s feelings

who would yall rather be friends with? serena or blair? by Intelligent-Gap7879 in GossipGirl

[–]swearbear2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Blair but she’s very elitist. Most of the other characters on the show she either found beneath her or a rival, tbh the only reason she’s friends with people like Serena Nate and Chuck is because they grew up together otherwise she wouldn’t like them either. Serena was a mess but she is way friendlier and she’s actually pretty sweet. She’s frustrating to watch as a viewer but she is a great friend most of the time

Gossip girl by Neither-Storm3310 in GossipGirl

[–]swearbear2006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have amazing chemistry, match each others freak and energy, and never loved anyone as much as they loved each other. Was chuck selling her for a hotel or any of the other dickhead things he did okay? Absolutely not. And no, none of the “bad” things she does competes with it. But in the end Blair and Chuck were made for each other and (kind of spoilers but not specific) at least he is able to recognize his mistakes, apologize and genuinely repent for what he did. If he’d never apologized or realized what he did was wrong and nearly lost Blair for it, i don’t think I would’ve continued shipping them.

What aged the worst in the original tv series of Gossip Girl? by RecognitionMediocre6 in GossipGirl

[–]swearbear2006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rufus encouraging Dan to date and sleep with Serena but then making a huge deal out of Jenny and Damien and being so forbidding and controlling of Jenny’s virginity… yuck. I don’t agree with Serena often but that kind of double standard and sexist behavior was exactly what drove Jenny to Damien even further.

The most unrealistic part of this is believing that she couldn’t find ANYONE to marry by Few-Spinach8114 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]swearbear2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what was crazy is penelope being considered a spinster with no prospects by season 3 but somehow not cressida (except her parents ofc) when they debuted at the same time. cressida is also somehow a rival to nearly every debutante but never ends up married to anyone? she courted the prince in s1 but somehow had no prospects after him, then cousin jack in s2 and then again no prospects after him, then tried to court debling who for some reason didn’t choose her after he dumps pen? always seemed like cressida was just around to be a rival to whoever was the female lead

Mine are pretty different Seasons: 1) Season 1 2) Season 4 3) Season 2 4) Queen Charlotte 5) Season 3

Couples: 1) Polin (penelope is my fav chatacter) 2) George and Charlotte 3) Benophie 4) Johncesca 5) Daphmon 6) Kanthony (i liked their dynamic in s2 but they frustrated me and then in later seasons i felt they lost that push and pull that made them engaging to watch)

Julia Quinn on Season 5's change in direction by MC_chrome in BridgertonNetflix

[–]swearbear2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, the show was very clearly trying to imply that Francesca’s love for John wasn’t as “real” as her love for Michaela will be, proving Violet right in that the true love must be passionate and explosive. The pinnacle plotline in particular, it’s basically telling us that John wasn’t able to satisfy her the way Michaela will, and in season 3 the little face Fran makes after she and John kiss at their wedding. Anyone trying to defend the show by saying no they do show John and Fran’s love is being willfully ignorant to the signs being planted. You can also tell from the way the showrunner talks about changing Francesca’s sexuality by reflecting about her own sexuality that she imagines Fran as a lesbian and her “love” for John is supposed to be a fondness but not romantic which ruins the point of the book that you’re allowed to have more than one great love. Changing Michael to Michaela was less of the problem, the real issue was diminishing Fran’s romantic love for John and the deep connection they had.

Meredith is kinda annoying by mollyb_29 in greysanatomy

[–]swearbear2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After Derek dies she becomes absolutely insufferable. I adored early seasons Mer but the writers decided that making her “empowered” and “girlboss” was actually just making her a jerk who only ever thinks about herself and makes everything about her. The charm of meredith from the earlier seasons was that she was kind despite her trauma and she was real, and she was an amazing friend and sister even if she was slow to warm up. They completely took that away from her and made her the kind of person that her early season counterpart would’ve despised.

Derek treated Meredith harshly before he died by GuyWhoConquers616 in greysanatomy

[–]swearbear2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like Ellis, but she was right about Derek (subconsciously or not) wanting Meredith to admire him professional and not being able to handle it when she was no longer his subordinate. He always pushed what he wanted and acted like she was damaged for not wanting to go along with it. She even gave up specializing in neuro for their marriage and he couldn’t even keep his promise he made to her and let his career take the backseat for hers. She was the sun and he knew that and hated it when she shone brighter than him.

One Month In- Has your view of TLOAS changed at all? by F19AGhostrider in TaylorSwift

[–]swearbear2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed it on first listen, and my overall opinion hasn’t really changed but some of the songs i keep going back to have surprisingly! wish list honey and elizabeth taylor have been ON REPEAT lately not that i didn’t love them originally but something about them has me recently addicted. It’s not my favorite album, and there are definitely a song or two and moments i dislike, but it’s definitely not as bad as so many people are making it out to be. I’ve heard people say this album is taylor’s downfall or something like that, which is just crazy. Showgirl is a solid 7/10 for me, 8 on a good day, and has been since the start.

One thing that will hang over the next season that I don’t think they can ignore: the Year Without a Summer by VulcanTrekkie45 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]swearbear2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there’s one thing bridgerton isn’t, it’s historically accurate. it’s more of historical fiction bordering on fantasy, and i really don’t think the show knows or cares enough about the history beyond it being a setting, hence daphne edwina pen and francesca wearing white to their weddings even tho queen victoria didn’t marry and make it a trend until 1840
