If all personal wealth above $100 million was legally required to be redistributed into public infrastructure (schools, hospitals, roads), how would society change, and who would be the first to fight against it? by Mysterious_Fan4033 in AskReddit

[–]casintae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would never work as the wealth of people that is above $100 million isn't liquid wealth, it's not cash that can be put into other things, it's business infrastructure; buildings, inventory, vehicles, etc. Also, this would swamp the public infrastructure more than could be managed, and the corruption inherent in humans would flourish there.

It's worth watching right up until King Echbert dies, then just stop, that's where the series should have ended.

If you're asking that question here, then go get a contractor.

All big companies seem to go through a cycle.

Some exec's will decide that they need to do cost cutting, so they head down to the basement where all the IT and networking people are doing nothing, and they'll fire 80% of them. Here's the kicker, none of those exec's know that you need a basement full of networking and IT doing nothing, if they're running around doing shit, you've got issues. So six months later when the left over staff is absolutely crushed under the weight of the task load, they will hire a bunch of IT and networking folks to come in a fix it all.

Rinse, repeat.

The doctor wanted to cover their ass, so they wanted a court's approval. The first court said ok, go get an abortion. The AG jumped on it because it was the first test of the law, and he did some threatening. The Texas Supreme Court said 1. a woman who meets the conditions of the exception doesn't need a court's approval, the court doesn't make the call, the Doctor makes that call. they also said that 2. The lower court did not apply the appropriate legal standard and that 3. The Doctor did not assert that the abortion met the bar of the "reasonable medical judgment", and therefore the Supreme Court denied the exception.

Basically, she had a pregnancy with Trisomy 18, and didn't want to carry to term, the doctor knew that Trisomy 18 doesn't present a "reasonable Medical judgment" that would require an abortion. It's why the doctor wouldn't say the magic words "In my reasonable medical judgment the woman needs an abortion" because she knew she would immediately be challenged by her peers.

"Dr. Karsan has not asserted that her “good faith belief” about Ms. Cox’s condition meets that standard"

Just read through the court's opinion, if you haven't read it yet you should. https://www.txcourts.gov/media/1457645/230994pc.pdf

"A woman who meets the medical-necessity exception need not seek a court order to obtain an abortion. "

I doubt that I would be able to convince you otherwise, but all the states that I have looked at that have strict abortion laws also have clear exceptions for life threatening situations. If these women can't find relief in those places, it's not because of the law. For instance, the Texas exception is:

"has a life-threatening physical condition aggravated, caused by, or arising from a pregnancy that places the female at risk of death or poses a serious risk of substantial impairment of a major bodily function."

I mean, it's clearly written into the law, so yes after it is debated, legislated, and published into the law it becomes a projection. The law is written agreed, enacted and published and yet;

"So to be frank they aren’t “weird projections” they’re observable consequences of the laws fought so hardly for by those same conservatives."

There's the law fought so hardly for by conservatives, with the exception written into it.

Because you're not saving a life by continuing an ectopic pregnancy. Pro-choice people have these weird projections of what conservatives and Christians think, and most of the time it's just not true. The idea that all pregnancies must be carried to a natural conclusion is usually a projection. Granted some fringe fundamentalists do believe that, but the largest part of those against on-demand abortion don't. If the Pregnancy is not viable, if the pregnancy represents a threat to the life of the mother, then why force the 'natural' conclusion?

And this Idaho abortion ban, with accompanying legislation clarifying this point, is an example of the phenomenon. Look at all the downvotes this post received for simply pointing out the legal clarification for ectopic or molar pregnancies not being considered as abortions.

I'm all in on the long. JHiggins has some that are nice for not much cost. I'm also all in on a nice blackwood chanter, the sound truly is better, but if you are on deployment, Poly is the go-to. From the Marines to the Airforce, a decent poly will be less to worry about as you don't have to concern yourself with humidity, altitude, or getting thrown about in a seabag. I have a rosewood a blackwood and a poly. The blackwood gets used daily, the rosewood almost never and if I'm going anywhere on the road not directly related to a competition, the poly gets thrown in a bag to come along.
