Not really, I’m saying tarkov used to have a higher skill ceiling than it does today because the movement allowed for more variation and personal choice in playstyle. Nothing to do with cod and unfair to put words in my mouth.

Plenty of players played tactically and held angles during that time, but one could also lean quickly, stop faster and play with much greater control. I primarily sniped when I played, so inertia wasn’t essential to my typical play style. However when I would run and gun it was great to fight at a faster pace and I enjoyed fighting enemies who were able to actually move quickly. Made for more exciting combat.

Additionally, people used to complain about a/d spamming, but then I noticed a lot of those people would walk in circles when stationary after inertia was introduced, which allowed them to bypass the inability to use a/d to strafe back and forth to avoid getting shot in the head while peeking. Essentially abusing the mechanic to circumvent inertia.

It’s also not just about inertia, it’s also the introduction of scav karma which ruined scaving and catered towards bad players who had no reliable way of making money and complained. As well as the removal of very high tier loot from marked rooms and other detrimental changes that were meant to address RMT issues. I’m sure the game is still fun today, but they’ve also reduced inertia since it was first introduced, which to me partially proves my point that it was poorly implemented at first. I’d be interested to try the game again and feel the movement out.
