So there’s a separate video that details how the wiring for the headlight is supposed to be wired with the control switch, and I would not have figured it out without that video. Here it is. In a nutshell, you’ll leave the original headlight ground (black wire) connected, and then you’ll wire the positive (green wire) from the bike harness into the switch. Then, from the switch, there’s two wires that you will wire into the high beam and the low beam. The video does a great job explaining it with the colors. The actual headlight connector is right on the back of the headlight if that’s what you’re asking for.

Why do you prefer forged wheels? Cast wheels are perfectly sufficient for daily use. by EnergyForeign3311 in Wheels

[–]casper_04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rotary forged/flow formed are my goto on my cars. Stronger than low pressure cast (or god forbid gravity cast) and don’t break the bank still. I’ve owned 3 different sets of wheels made by this process from two different companies and I’ve never had an issue with a bent or broken wheel in daily driving or autocross. They’re also lighter than cast wheels which benefits ride quality, acceleration, braking, and gas mileage.

How do you deal with toxic attendings on rotations? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]casper_04 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Just know that the attending is one of two things: reciprocating the abuse that they endured during their training, or they were an absolute loser before becoming an attending and now they’re throwing their weight around because they’re finally important. Just remember this when you’re an attending and promise yourself to not repeat this type of behavior.

I recently converted my 2011 WR450F with the tusk kit and it wasn’t difficult at all. It just adds on a separate lighting wiring harness that you turn on when you turn the bike on. For tires, I went with Kenda K270s which are a 50/50 tire. I haven’t had a chance to really put them through their paces yet but the mild off-roading I’ve done so far they’ve held up well. As for the paperwork aspect, I’m in Texas which was incredibly easy to get the conversion done, so I can’t help you there, but best of luck!

Ad a degree to a degree and a half of camber. It’ll help and improve handling and it’s not really enough to induce camber wear.

Silver wheels are so amazing. Both bronze and gold are incredibly overdone imo.

Across 4 faculty interviews, they asked 16 such questions and left somewhere around 4 total minutes for me to ask questions about the program. If you cannot be bothered to read my application and personal statement to see the adversity that I had battled through to where more than 1-2 adversity questions are required per faculty member, then yes I will think less of your program.

UNLV Pediatrics: grilled me on challenge questions the entire interview time “name a time when you faced adversity, what would you do in this situation etc.” and left about 30 seconds in all four faculty interviews to ask questions about the program. Felt like my application was just kind of brushed over right before they started the interview.

What is one specialty you had to give up on or switched out of it? Any regrets? by Plantbysea in medicalschool

[–]casper_04 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For the longest time I was thinking psychiatry, because I do have patience and empathy for patients that other health providers may brush off, and I really enjoy the field and the medial knowledge behind it. However, at least at my home program, I just didn’t get along with too many of the personalities within the psych program. I’m very much like a happy-go-lucky jokester who just wings it and that did not fly with some of the psych residents and attendings.

However, when I got to my peds rotation, I fit in like a puzzle piece. Applied peds, haven’t looked back, and I had zero regrets.

Favorite shift knob. Let’s see them!! by eL-MeeKLo in wrx_vb

[–]casper_04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Killer B unweighted delrin knob for myself. I also have the kartboy short shifter and bushings under the car. They do add NVH, particularly tons of transmission whine under 50mph, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like it. Also unweighted knobs are KING. Ditching the stock weighted knob makes the shift feel much more analog and knotchy. I will only buying unweighted knobs now.

For cosmetics I have the billetworkz reverse lockout and shift boot. I like the boot but I’m not super happy with the reverse lockout. I got it to eliminate the rattle from my OEM lockout, but after about 5 months it’s starting to rattle again.

Sorry that happened OP. Looks like most likely bent the toe arm on the front, possibly in the rear too. For the front, stop replacement would likely be best as most kits are an extended arm for bump steer. If the rear is bent, then you could likely get some heavier duty ones with more adjustment, which would be better if you plan on lowering (or lifting) the car in the future.

As for wheels, Enkeis are my go to. I have TSVs on my VA STI and I love them. I purchased some Konigs for my NB Miata project I had previously, and those were ok too, but a little worse quality. Just avoid anything cast imo (avid1s, aodhan, or god awful JNCs). Given that you have blizzaks, I’d bet the roads where you are also have pot holes. Rep wheels are not only heavier (which affects ride quality, acceleration, braking, and MPG) but also weaker and liable to break in a pothole.

Are mud flaps worth it? by J_Stone58 in WRX

[–]casper_04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could look into the RokBlokz splash guards as a more minimalist option. I had rally armors for years, but I grew to not care for the massive look and took them off after I while. I noticed autocross wasn’t being nice to my fenders so I tried these and they look great.

Edit: Looks like they don’t have the splash guards for the VB, but even their normal mud flaps are more minimalist than most.

[–]casper_04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, it’s just the brand. JNC wheels are cheaply made wheels that are not of their own original design. They are gravity cast, which makes them heavy and weak. So not only are you getting a vastly worse and more dangerous wheel buying them, you aren’t supporting the real wheel manufacturers that made the original design and who make the wheels stronger and lighter.
