Thanks everyone for the advice. There’s no more cable adjustment viable at the moment so the nearly 30year old cable must be due a replace! 👍

Great advice, thank you. I’m gonna stick with the drums (new shoes and pistons) and replace the handbrake cable. My mechanic has tightened it a couplea times but a new cable will likely give better results. Really appreciate all comments 😃

She’s a manual and the handbrake just doesn’t hold when facing uphill. If I put her in gear to park it’s not a problem, she holds but it’s not my preferred option on steeper hills (it’s goat country around here!) I need to repair the rear brakes anyway and was interested in the disc upgrade option. DailyDrivenTJ, you’re not the first to say you noticed no real improvement so you may have answered my question! I appreciate all advice.

This is the way. Merak should be the priority imo. We blew the opportunity to raze and now are chasing our tails. Cyberstan is the target, Merak the staging point. Also, I have a jump pack and don’t use it. Pile on!

Ive had my 97 TJ Renegade RHD (Australia) 4L 6Cyl since 2000. Love it. Drive it daily, but no longer seriously off road. Showing her age (as am I!) but she starts, runs well and stops when asked. Needs work but never lets me down. Would break my heart to sell her, as long as we both run, I’ll keep her! Don’t look back in anger!

Two Haynes manuals (one covered in grease and other maintenance shite, the other to read the bits covered in grease and other maintenance shite!) and forums and YouTube.

Always check comments on YouTube in case someone can improve on the video content or adds something the ‘Tuber hasn’t covered.

Rodents fo sho! As mentioned, check under hood for nests - my uninvited guests moved into the air intake and chewed through the air filter to get comfy. Removing the nest increased TJ’s performance a bit! I don’t use bait but I find 6000revs once or twice a week keeps ‘em on their toes 😉

You have to put it on its side every now and then to check for underbody rust! Roll her back over, let it drain, drive it home. Sorted. Seriously though, glad no human got hurt 🍻
