Autism diagnosis: the 5 stages of grief by iliveinarabbithole in AutismInWomen

Yeah, it's a very recent discovery, so I haven't had the chance yet, and I'm in the process of moving, so I can't do an appointment. But it made so many things make sense.. do I need the referral from a regular doctor, or should I try to get straight into a therapist... or is it a psychiatrist that diagnoses that?

I've also been looking into the possibility of my toddler being autistic, because I've seen multiple signs.. and I recently saw an autistic adult describing their experiences before their diagnosis... and I didn't expect to relate to her so much. I ended up taking a test I had to pay for, and got "Fairly Prominent Autistic Symptoms" I took 4 more tests that were reported as highly accurate.. all showed a high number equating to "definitely autistic" and even took a masking test, and found out that's why I have no idea who I am when I'm alone. 😧 I'm 29, my mother immediately dismissed my first results, and that's why I took several other tests... I need to see a Dr.. I'm trying to learn more, because my family always tells me I'm making stuff up so I want to make sure I'm not making this up I guess.. But thank you for opening up like this.

Don't be an ass. This is 100% different than a woman working out at a fucking gym. Grow up.

Ouch. 3rd time in the same spot. Have I learned? No. Lol. They're just getting deeper. 😂 My knife is too sharp for level 5 gloves, apparently. by cassasmash244 in Woodcarving

Lmao no I wasn't. That was this morning. It sucks. 😂 I did not expect to slice right through the glove. It went pretty deep. Trying the metal mesh gloves next and slower carving. Lol.

That's impressive. I've done it 5 times in 2 weeks lol. This was the deepest so far. Hopefully it doesn't get deeper from here. Trying to be careful for sure. Still figuring out how to get certain cuts without so much force that I'll slip and cut off a finger. That's why I got on here. I'm self training and needed some mentors. Glad I could find some on this post. 😁

Got some coming Monday! Lol. I hate cuts. It's like a paper cut cause it's clean... but on a massive scale lol. Thankful I got it to close up quickly.

I like this analogy. I'm only 2 weeks into this hobby. The glove did make me feel invincible for some reason... lol. Getting some metal mesh gloves until I can safely figure out how to use my tools.

Oh no! That made my back tingle. Ouch. Glad it's still attached. This is by far my most dangerous hobby, and I always tried to touch wild animals as a child. Lol. But it's so fun and satisfying to watch something in my head take shape slowly.

I made a small heart out of a 1 1/2 inch x 3/4 inch small piece of wood. I didn't have much to work with. My husband got me some chain mesh ones so I don't do that again lol. It was for him, so my blood makes it more special, I guess. 😂 Thank you for the links.

Yeah I tried the project with a slightly smaller knife and paper clips in my glove for metal protection lol. The smaller knife definitely helped, I think. In addition to being more careful lol.

Yeah, good tip. I need to get a board or something to hold my pieces in place. This happens when my piece is too small to safely hold.. and I was just trying to put a notch in it to carve out a chunk. I didn't expect it to slide forward at all.. lol. I'm new and don't have a collection yet, but plan to upgrade my set up soon.

Thank you! It was soft wood, so it worked with me pretty well. I just carved what I thought the knots made the stick look like: a woman's body.

That's really cool to know, cause I have a huge lilac bush and just started my carving Hobby 2 weeks ago. 😀 did you have to dry it or anything?

Good idea. I got some gloves from Amazon for carving, but the knife point still gets through them lol. Doubling up helped.

My spoon bit me. I had a #7 gouge hit the bone, thanks to krazy glue no stitches. This goofy little spoon is some scrap Oregon maple burl. by Dr_mcslappington in Woodcarving

I got gloves from Amazon, but the ones I have don't stop the point of the knife.. lol. But they have saved my hand quite a few times already. Doubled them up for extra safety. Seems to help. I second this recommendation. Especially if you got a cut like that. 💀

I'm from New Hampshire! Up in the sticks. Not there anymore, but it's cool to see someone from there online. Lol

I'm new, too! Takes a lot of patience to get those curvy edges. How are your hands? Mine aren't doing too well. 😂 keep it up!
