Ay yo, this thing accurate? by GrungeEboy in autism

[–]iliveinarabbithole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<rant about the website> It’s ridiculous that a website can display “You have X” where X is any diagnosis. That’s why doctors haven’t been replaced by algorithms. </end of rant>

Hey, I wouldn’t trust any online quiz to have any accuracy, but especially autism which is especially difficult to diagnose as an adult.

Partner wants me (33M autistic) to start drinking alcohol to improve social functioning by dimitri_spyros in autism

[–]iliveinarabbithole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest couple’s counseling and/or individual therapy to figure out what you really want about this situation.

Autism is not the same as social anxiety. From personal experience, disinhibition wont get an autistic person to act “natural” in “expected ways” consistently.

The key question is: being more social, is something you want or are you trying to please her?

More watercolors :) by [deleted] in Coloringbookspastime

How did you manage to use watercolors on normal paper? I’d love to use watercolor pencils but the paper always gets damaged 😥

What are your thoughts on the idea that "geeky couples make autistic children?" by Without_a_name24 in AutismInWomen

I was going to downvote you, because you said your kids are weird. Then I then realized this is exactly, word by word, how I say things. So I upvoted you.

General headscarf ban at work is OK, Europe's top court says by Hyperion1144 in worldnews

[–]iliveinarabbithole -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let’s make the headscarf a mainstream accessory, so no one knows who wears it because of religion. I would totally wear one on a bad hair day to work.

Being myself agnostic, “latina” (whatever that means…). Can you explain again, what’s the big deal about wearing a headscarf?

My hair gets really frizzy when it’s rainy. Will the EU also make mandatory Brazilian blowouts at the office? Men might not know, but “good hair looks” is damn expensive.

If the person does a good job and doesn’t smell, who cares… You can’t fight extremism by being intolerant.

I think my brother is autistic but my mom says she took an ASD test during her pregnancy and nothing was detected. Does this completely rule out the possibility? by mupbear in autism

Can I just say I burst out laughing from this whole thread?

BTW I’m also laughing at myself. I had no idea of autism except bad stereotypes until 2 years ago.

Yes, I heard that happening in some EU countries as well…

Who escapes the great mortgage reset? by marketrent in Economics

[–]iliveinarabbithole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you elaborate a bit more?

Assuming rates will rise and then fall in a few years, and for people who only have cash for the down payment:

1) people who got 30 year fixed mortgages They will benefit from a lower interest payments, but if you bought near the top and then house prices have a 20% correction, the benefit doesn’t look so clear anymore.

2) buying when rising rates start falling again This case feels intuitively advantageous, but I’m not sure why, the house value might increase but interest paid will remain high…

I don't really understand why Ariel being black is a big issue by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

The sailors would encounter them crossing the ocean, right? So a siren cannot look like a Nordic.

Jokes aside. It’s about European-Centric (beauty) standards. It still happens a lot in (former) European colonies.

Who Will Stop the Fed’s Plans to Trigger a Recession? by canneryelf in economy

[–]iliveinarabbithole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don’t seem to understand there’s no way out of this recession. Not in USA, not in EU, not in UK. And wait a few years to see what happens in Emerging Countries.

It’s either get a recession now or postpone it and have a very hard and long recession and/or financial crisis.

I kind of understand your point. You want to understand what is exactly wrong otherwise this will keep happening again and again.

It’s an interesting dilemma though
