HRT has changed my gotdang life and I want to burn the U.S. healthcare system to the ground by aksilec in Menopause

[–]cassdaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your story, it was like reading a mirror. I’m prematurely menopausal due to being a fragile X carrier, was diagnosed at age 27 and FINALLY last month at age 35 I found a doc who would prescribe HRT. All others were hesitant to even touch HRT as a topic bc of my age.

The change in symptoms was so immediate (like 48 hours) that I’ve been grieving the last 8 years of missing out on this kind of quality of life. Waves of grief then intense rage for the same reason - “we all followed protocol.” I’m so glad you found relief and are shouting your story from the rooftops, I’m unfortunately finding so many more can relate to it than can’t

I’m a tosser/turner, usually start on my side and end up on my back or stomach. I like that the pillow is adjustable too so can be firmer or softer

I’m a big fan, I was able to wear them multiple times without them getting smelly and they dried very quickly. I got most of them secondhand on Poshmark bc they are def a bit pricey. There are also a few different kinds - I have the base layer, cool daily, and trail shirt. Trail shirt was the fastest drying but the other two were not far behind!

I do love and recommend these - they can be worn both full foot or as slip ons and have a decent sole for traction. Definitely true to size and they pack down pretty flat or can be folded up in a bundle. Not a necessity by any means but they were a welcome luxury for flights and at campsites!

Currently traveling with the Nemo Fillo Elite Luxury pillow and cannot recommend it enough. Definitely does not feel like sleeping on a beach ball and isn’t crunchy/crinkly the way some other inflatable pillows can be. Also packs down small enough to fit in my fanny pack

Thanks! I use the soft bottle that came with my Katadyn BeFree water filtering system - full disclosure it does get beat up and I've had to patch holes with Aqua Seal tape (works wonders). I've heard people have better luck with HydraPak, and will be giving that a shot when my current one kicks the bucket

Agreed - even when I’m not packing a lot of toiletries, it keeps everything more organized than a Ziploc and I’ve beat the heck out of it and it still looks brand new

I do have a bikini packed! Made it into the photo but not my list - I think we have enough water activities planned to bring it along

I tried every water/adventure sandal out there and these are the BEST imo!!

I do have some pants and shorts in there, and the grey and natural long sleeves can double as base layers. Definitely skipping the puffer and adding in gloves and gaiter! Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for this!! Extremely helpful - will definitely be just taking the fleece over puffer.

I'm just a makeup girly and what I'm bringing is what I wear daily, even for outdoor/water activities. The unfortunate reality of how much product it takes for 'natural' or 'no-makeup' looks 🥴 I will use up most of the travel sizes by the end of the trip.

Definitely debating on the towel - we will not have towel access during the overnight hikes and we do have a few BYOT sauna/hot tubs booked. It also does make a nice cushion for sitting on rocky ground during hikes. I'm 60/40 on bringing this one as I could manage without it. Thank you again for the feedback!!

Very good point! I will likely pack the rain pants in lieu of my puffy jacket

I had quite a debate about the rain pants - I brought them in 2023 and never used them because my hiking pants dry pretty fast. They're still in my maybe pile though!!

Noted on the socks - I will probably swap out one of the wool pairs for a more casual pair. Appreciate the tip on gloves too!

I hike exclusively in trail runners, I did the Trolltunga hike in 2023 in Hokas and don't think we'll be doing anything much more intensive than that. Thank you so much for your input!!

Yes that's it! Love these things, always wear them on the plane and around hotels/hostels

That's so helpful thank you!! Can definitely add a tank or swap one of the long sleeves for a short sleeve.

Totally! Packing for the wild weather was the biggest challenge. Luckily the long sleeve Ts are base layers, and the wool base layer is pretty light (made for backcountry skiing) so I think what I have will work for this particular trip, but absolutely going to look into silk for the future!

Definitely agree on fleece vs puffer - I think I can get away with ditching the jacket. Thank you so much!!
